In 1912 Keansburg residents John Wetherbee & Sons Manufacturing Company was founded with the goal of manufacturing high-quality rifle stocks specifically forKeansburg residents who desired them (Wetherbee Bros.). Over time these companies grew into two separate but related businesses: Wetherbee Bros./Keansburg Manufacturing Company became known as Browning Firearms Corporation after Browning purchased Wetherbee Bros./KeANSBURG MANUFACTURING COMPANY in 1978; while Browning Firearms Corporation continues today as Browning Arms Inc., one of America's leading arms dealers

The Keansburg Rifle Company was founded in 1868 by John A. Keans and his brother, James. The company manufactured firearms and ammunition for the New Jersey militia. In 1892, the company merged with the Hornsby Rifle Company to form the Hornsby-Keansburg Rifle and Ammunition Company. The company produced rifles, shotguns, and other firearms until 1958 when it merged with the Browning Arms Corporation to form Browning-Hornsby Firearms Corporation.

Keansburg is a small town located in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Middlesex-Newark metropolitan area. The first European to visit Keansburg was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1524. He named it "Verrazano's Town" after him. The first settlers were Dutchmen who arrived in 1664 and founded a small village on the east side of Kipling Creek near present-day Keansburg High School. In 1703, the Englishman Robert Boyle settled here with his family from Somerset, England; he named it "Boyle's Town". In 1839, American Revolutionary War veteran and Revolutionary War general George Washington stopped at Keansburg for dinner with General John Sullivan during their campaigns around Morrisania and Monmouth Junction. His son Lt. Colonel George Washington also visited here circa this time as did future Senators James K. Polk (25th) and Charles Sumner (27th). On October 24th, 1845, during the Mexican–American War, skirmishes took place between United States Cavalry troopers under Major General Winfield Scott and a force of Mexican irregulars led by José Joaquín Zaragoza at what is now known as Gaziosa Mesa near present-day Keansburg Mall; casualties among both sides were high with some estimates putting the dead up to 100%. On October 25th following this engagement US forces burned down Zaragoza's home at what is now known as Zaragoza House on Main Street in retaliation for his actions that day; this event also marks the beginning of what would become known as "the Great Zagros Earthquake". During World War II many factories shut down due to wartime production restrictions but most notably those responsible for making gasoline drums which were essential for war purposes such as Ford Motors plants in Dearborn Heights (now Detroit), Peoria (now Peoria Township), Stroudsburg (now West Allis) and numerous other locations throughout New Jersey including Pascagoula (now Bay Saint Louis), Trenton (now Trenton Township), Asbury Park (now Asbury Park Township), East Brunswick (then East Brunswick Township), Neptune Beach Township, Bricktown Borough/Brickstown Hills Borough and Ocean City Borough all located within Union County produced rubber products including tires, car parts and more which must have been shipped out across Long Island Sound into allied battle zones like Normandy just prior to Pearl Harbor when Japan attacked us on December 7th 1941 followed by America’s entry into World War II Keansburg had its start back in 1664 when Dutchmen established a small village on Kipling Creek near present day KeANSBURG HIGH SCHOOL according to official records however there are various stories about where this initial village actually came from or even if it even still exists today Masonic Lodge #2 Post #1 has been Operated Here Since 1865!

Keansburg is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,539 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Election Area. The first people to settle in Keansburg were Dutch settlers who arrived here in 1682. They named their town after John Kean, an Englishman who had settled in this area some years earlier. In 1807, John Fenton purchased the land that now makes up Keansburg from Nicholas de Lancey and renamed it Fenton Township. In 1814, Phebe Scott donated land to form what is now the eastern border of Keansburg Borough. The first post office was established in 1815 and was called "Keefe". The name reverted to "Keansburg" after the lead Mine closed down in 1865 and all but a few residents left for other mines or towns throughout Morris County during that decade of industrial decline known as the American South during which manufacturing increased at a rapid rate while prices for goods decreased nationally. The township became borough on April 14, 1896 when Morristown borough merged with Keansburg Township. On October 15 of that year, a fire destroyed most of what remained of Morristown's downtown business district before being put out by firefighters from both townships working together; this event is generally considered to be the beginning of modern day Keansburg's nightlife industry as businesses began opening up late into the night due to lack of other places to open up shop during that time period without fear of arson or vandalism. In its early days as a township, Keansburg did not have any public schools; each individual family sent their children to school very locally since there were no public buildings or transportation available for those living near either Rutgers University (then known as Rutgers Polytechnic Institute) or Morristown (then known as Trenton). However starting in 1915 when construction began on Maplewood High School on Main Street across from present day Slippery Rock Elementary School – then located just north of wherepresent daykeanesburgan high school stands – students from neighboring municipalities started coming to attend classes at Maplewood instead of going home again like they had done previously since buses didn't run between then and later anymore because Morristown was having trouble finding funding for new schools; this change led eventuallyto keanesburgh becoming one large high school serving all municipalities within Morris County including thoseLiving outsidetheborough boundaries On July 1st 1908 there was an Earthquake measuring 5 7 on Richter Scale which struck central NJ causing extensive damage including loss Of life and property damage totaling over $100M . Many homes were destroyed with many locals losing everything they owned including their homes , farms etc... also mills & factories went offline leaving many jobless & homeless . This event has been referred to as “The Great Quake” One reason why keanesburgh experienced such heavy losses was becausemanyofthepropertiesintowns adjacenttoitweredestroyedeitherduringthequakeor subsequentflooding whichstrippedoffsomeofthesocialsupportnetworksthathadbeen builtupduringthoseearlyyears
