The local high school and postsecondary education institutions are Keansburg High School and Morristown Central School. The first Europeans to visit what is now Keansburg were Dutch colonists who founded a trading post there in 1676. In 1714, French traders established a fur trading outpost on the same site as today's KeANSBURG shopping center and later developed into an agricultural village with gristmill that powered both mills and homes until 1819 when it became known as Khaneisburgh after its founder Ezra Khaneisburgh Jr..In 1836, Morris Township was formed from portions of Morris and Union Townships; KeANSBURG remained within Morris Township until 1962 when it became part of Trenton. KeANSBURG first emerged as a settlement in the early 1800s due to its location near the Susquehanna River which made for good farmland for farming and trade opportunities combined with easy access to barges moving goods downriver. At that time, there were no railroads in New Jersey so goods had to be transported by Boat or Railroad before they could be consumed or sold. By 1809, over 100 people lived in KeANSBURG while only 10 acres (4 hectares) of land was used for farming/trade purposes In 1830, John Cohanter built his first home here while living at nearby Manalapan Creek where he raised chickens and pigs on his farmstead which comprised three buildings including a barn/factory - one of which still stands today! By 1840, many residents had arrived here from southern England looking for new opportunities after being displaced by Katrina’s landfall along the coastlines of Louisiana & Mississippi across Lake Pontchartrain – some reaching as far away as Yorktown Heights & Montclair NJ There were also Irish immigrants who had immigrated during this time frame although their numbers remain unknown In 1850 & 1860 respectively 2 schools were built: one for white children called “Stowe” while the other was called “Fenwick” named after Rev Dr Fenwick headmaster of West Orange Free Academy who funded it . In addition to this 4 businesses started up during this time such as Butcher shop (1851), Gents store (1853), Carpenter shop (1854), Watchmaker Shop(1855). However all these businesses failed within few years due economic reasons like lack of customers or competition from other towns in Mercer County In 1861 Kingston Borough was created out of parts of Trenton & Hamilton Twp., making it possible for more than 1,000 citizens from different backgrounds to live together under one roof During this time period some factories closed due to overuse or becoming unprofitable but many others evolved into small businesses that continue present day such as dry cleaner (1901), grocery store (1920), restaurant (1925) etc… Today we still have those types of businesses going strong like car wash (1981) and pizza place(2005). Later on in 1861 Kingston Borough became Trenton city Limits following incorporation by Trenton Mayor George Wickersham Sr., becoming home to over 15K people including 3 large breweries plus numerous stores governing everything from streetlights to zoning laws
