Guns could now be inserted and locked into place within this safe without having to remove them from their holsters (although they did not operate like standard safes). The popularity of these fire-safe designs led to their widespread usage throughout America during World War II period, as many soldiers needed access to their firearms while stationed abroad or during peacetime times when no specific protection against burglary was available (ie., units quarters). After the war ended, many Americans began upgrading their homes with fire-safe systems as part of newly designed home architectures becoming popular at this time such as Rancho Bernardo style dwellings (where all doors leading out were protected with locks) or modern detached houses with multiple levels (where internal fires were kept under control through separate living spaces/gun Safes). Keansburg is a small town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,853 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Trenton–Ewing metropolitan area. The first Europeans to set foot in Keansburg were Dutch settlers in 1675. The township was formed on April 15, 1812 from parts of Perth Amboy and Bound Brook Township. On November 17, 1858, Keansburg became a borough when portions of Perth Amboy and Bound Brook Township were consolidated into the new borough. Borough status was revoked on February 14, 1960 by an act of the New Jersey Legislature because its population had dropped below 5500 citizens. On May 12, 1966, Keansburg voters passed a referendum to become an independent city with its own police department and mayor. This did not become official until November 8 that year when the City Council voted 3-2 to annex neighboring East Brunswick into KeANSBURG while keeping its own police department and mayor. As early as 1800 there were people living near what is now Keansburg due to numerous wrecks caused by ships being sunk off the coast during shipping season which would leave large piles of sandstone beach balls lying around for years afterwards known as "Keansburgh Beach". These sandstones are still present today in some areas of town although much less visible than they once were due to coastal erosion over time UPDATE: The beaches have been restored thanks to donations from community members!

It is the most populous town in Sussex County and the second most populous town on the East Coast of New Jersey after Newark. The first people to live here were Dutch settlers who arrived in 1664 and named it "Keenesburgh". In 1824, Keansburg became part of what was then known as Westmorland Township. On March 10, 1828, Keansburg became a borough when it amalgamated with nearby Newton Township. In 1905, Keansburg annexed the neighboring village of Haddon Heights. On July 1, 1915, Keansburg again became a borough when it merged with nearby Plainsboro Borough to form Plainfield Borough. On January 15th of that yearkeensburgh had a referendum to secede from Plainfield Borough but voted against doing so due to financial concerns about how much money Plainfield would receive from being independent again (the vote did not result in annexation). On October 3rd of that year keensburgh voted overwhelmingly in favor of becoming an independent city by passing a charter amendment which allowed for municipal elections every two years instead of one every five years as is currently done in Sussex County. The vote was well-received by residents and Gary Sheehan Mayor at the time called it "one of our proudest moments" - keensburgh has been an officially separate city since October 3rd 2009
Keansburg was founded in 1775 by Nicholas Kean, a Revolutionary War veteran and member of the New Jersey General Assembly. The town became an important center for manufacturing and commerce during the 19th century. In 1864, Keansburg was incorporated as a municipality.
