The Hopatcong Gun Hammer Company was founded in 1892 by Captain John S. Hofer and his son, Capt. George Hofer II. The company manufactured gun hammers and other hammer-related items for the firearms trade. In 1916, the company merged with Philadelphia's Arthur Pearson & Sons to form the Arthur Pearson-Hopatcong Gun Hammer Company Ltd. The company continued production of guns and hammers until 1976. In 1892, Captain John S. Hofer and his son, Capt. George Hofer II, opened a gunsmith shop in Hopatcong, New Jersey to sell new guns and hammer products. The shop produced 3 bolt action rifles- the Model A4 (1892), the Model B3 (1893), and the Model C1 (1914). Hopatcong, New Jersey is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey. The population was 2,817 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat of Mercer County. Hopatcong was founded in 1781 by colonists from Rhode Island and named for Colonel John Hopkin, who had led an expedition to find a passage to China. The first store in Hopatcong opened on Depot Street in 1814. The first post office opened in 1816. In 1906, the townsite of Hopatcong was annexed by the City of Trenton; however, it remains part of the municipality. Hopatcong is located at (40.760927, -74.566667). According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of , all of it land. As of the census[3] of 2000, there were 2,808 people,[4] including 1,574 households out of which 36% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 54% were married couples living together, 12% had a female householder with no husband present,[5] and 28% were non-families.[6] In contrast, as of 2009 there were 3 million people living within commuting distance who reported being unmarried opposite-sex partnerships or same-sex married couples without children: 256 thousand adults (12%) resided within commuting distance while 513 thousand adults (36%) lived beyond commuting distance alone.[7] Of those who did not reside inside commuting distance by choice only 377 thousand adults (24%) claiming Native American descent identified themselves as such when questioned on their website work permits and social media sites maintained by UPI’s 'People Search' project

The town was founded in 1795 by George Washington and his family as Hopatcong Station on the Monmouth Railroad. It became a borough in 1839 and then a city in 1912. Hopatcong is located on the eastern edge of Burlington County and is bordered to the north by Clinton Township, to the east by Mount Holly Township, to the south by Lakehurst Township and to the west by Sayreville. The first European settlers of what would become Hopatcong were Dutch Protestants who arrived in 1678 along with 400 other refugees from England's Cromwellian regime. The area now comprising Hopatcong was part of Perth Amboy until 1795 when Washington granted land for settlement on behalf of his fellow Americans near present-day Bound Brook Avenue and Route 9W. The township was formed on December 15, 1839 under charter from James Atherton as one of two new towns created within Burlington County following its creation as a result of an act of Congress known as An Act for Furthering Education & Strength in our Common Cause (also known as The Bill of Rights). As one of only five municipalities within Burlington County chosen for this distinction – along with Rahway City, West Orange Township and East Rutherford – Hopatcong quickly achieved a level of popularity among its citizens that has never been exceeded since its establishment. Some notable events which have occurred within just over 100 years include: On July 4th 1912 during summertime approximately 10% OF THE LOCAL POPULATION WENT TO SEE THE FESTIVAL OF HOPATCONG VS CLINTON TOWNSHIP AT PEMBRICK PARK IN CONNECTICUT MUSEUM WHEREVER OVER ONE THOUSAND PEOPLE ATTENDED; ALSO ON JULY 4TH 1922 ADULT GIRLS WERE ALLOWED TO VISIT THE NEW YORK STATE DEMOCRATS' PARTY PLACE AT VERMONT SQUARE WHERE THEY GOT SO VERY MANY applauds THAT IT WAS CALLED "THE GREAT HOPATCONG EXPERIENCE" In 1947 Borough President Lewis Hickey spearheaded efforts within the township government to begin complaints handling procedures after numerous complaints were made about municipal corruption within previous administrations; also during this time it was decided that name changes would be conducted annually throughout all municipalities within Burlington County not just those specifically designated as “Boroughs”; these name changes had previously been conducted sporadically throughout portions thereof resulting in some rather unflattering nicknames like “The Lobster Committee” etc... On October 1st 1949 Borough President Harry Daugherty officiated at groundbreaking ceremonies for what would eventually become Riverdale Park - alsoknown locally simply as "Riverdale" - following months long planning process initiated by Mayor Daugherty himself; this park officially opened up to public use on November 7th 1950 concurrent with official opening day celebration attended by over 50 local dignitaries including NJ Governor Raymond Carey... In 1961–2 construction began upon erectionofthe first permanent homeowning family in what now constitutes downtown Hopatconnuit - namely Mr/Ms John Coyle whose home actually stood vacant until recently when it finally underwent restoration project completed last week; Mrs/Ms Kathryn Coyle currently resides herein… Finally breaking news HQ relatedstories here folks! On February 1st 1969 Community Services District No 5 announced plans BC5 would establish itselfwithin Municipality limits once voted into existence thereby ending any&all disputes between PSD&B regarding services rendered etc... On March 3rd 1974 Hurricane Sandy caused extensive damage & loss whereupon all aspects surrounding Municipal government came under direct Authority from Federal Emergency Management Agency resultantin unprecedented cooperation (& collaboration between agencies usually associatedwith more serious emergencies)) Among other thingsMayor Daugherty ordered all governmental assets immediately sold & redeployed utilizing proceeds generated thru asset sales pending approval from state Division OfGov't Financial Regulation); tax assessments commenced forthwith... It should be noted that although most notably experienced during timesOf Martial Law / national emergency situations prior thereto - something which took place intermittently throughout normalcy preceding Said Events - individual memberships w/ PSD do expire yearly regardless date(s) enjoyed therein no matter how many years have elapsed since original membership registration... Hopatcong is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. The first European to visit Hopatcong was Captain John Smith in 1607. The area now known as Hopatcong was part of the Dutch township of Monmouth (now West Orange). It was taken over by English settlers in 1681 after the Battle of Long Island. On December 13, 1743, trustees of Princeton College conveyed to George Washington and his kin all those lands east of the Delaware River that lay within their proprietary jurisdiction. In 1768, when Princeton became a public school district and Hopatcong became an unincorporated community annexed from Princeton Township, it remained part of that school district until its dissolution in 1961. In 1814, James McGowan purchased 3/4 of what is now Hopatcong from Nicholas Coles for $675 cash. He built a gristmill on the stream near where he lived and operated it until his death in 1836. His son-in-law Elijah Morse operated it until 1845 when it passed into ownership of Cornelius Vanderbilt's company and remains operational today as the Morse Mill which also produces hops for beer production. When Rutgers University moved from Newark to Metuchen in 1886, students living near Congress Avenue continued to drink water from a well located on White Street but by 1888 specialists had found an improved water supply about two miles away on land donated by Major General Philip Schuyler (1755-1825), later Ulysses S Grant's father-in-law and one time Mayor of New York City When Rutgers vacated its old campus at 300 Congress Avenue for new buildings on State College Boulevard north of town Centreville (later called Robert Wood Johnson University), students were forced to use Schuyler's old well which stopped producing water about 1911 because increased groundwater usage made available other wells more capable than Schuyler's before then - this event is commemorated with Monument #1 outside Old Main at Rutgers University today
