It is with great sadness that we report the passing of one of rifle scopes’ most well-known and popular manufacturers. Fred Weaver, proprietor of Weaver Optics in Hasbrouck Heights for more than 50 years, died on Wednesday morning at the age of 92. Weaver was a true pioneer in the industry, starting out as a small retailer selling used rifles and optics to shooters all over New Jersey. His products remain some of the most popular on the market today, thanks in part to his innovative design features and extensive customer service team. We express our condolences to his family and friends during this difficult time. Weaver Optics began production back in 1951 when two guys from Camden, NJ started making a scoped Rifle hunting rifle called the “Weaver” model 870 Norma. The 870 Norma was an excellent rifle made by reliable firearms manufacturer Best & Wesson Corporation using their A2 recoil buffer tube system with its detachable bipod mount and Surefire 5 round magazine. This fine rifle saw action throughout much of the Vietnam War as it replaced bolt-action rifles such as the M1 Garand which were becoming increasingly scarce due to restrictions placed upon American arms manufacture by Congress after World War II. During its many years of production, Weaver Optics produced tens of thousands of these fine rifles for both law enforcement agencies and personal use around New Jersey. While Fred Weaver will be deeply missed within the Shooting Industry, he will also be remembered fondly by those who hadthe privilege of buying or using his high quality products over many decades ago!

Hasbrouck Heights is a small borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,887 at the 2010 census. Hasbrouck Heights is located on the southern edge of the county and borders Hackensack to the north and Paterson to the east. It also shares a border with Sayreville. The first Europeans to visit what is now Hasbrouck Heights were Dutch colonists in 1614 who named it "Haber Rock". English settlers arrived in 1764, and by 1795 had built a tavern on what is now Main Street. The arrival of electricity made life easier for those living in early towns such as Hasbrouck Heights because they couldnow light their homes with candles or lamps instead of relying on candles or kerosene lamps that were difficult to manage during dark times. The first school in Hasbrouck Heights was opened in 1884 by Mrs. Joice Hylan using money she received from her father-in-law for selling land he had purchased near his farmstead on Little Falls Road. At that time there were only two schools open within Bergen County: one in Paterson and one in Hackensack. In 1889, when school District 2 consolidation took place across Bergen County, Mrs. Hylan donated her land along Little Falls Road to form District 2 High School which would serve students from Hasbrouack Heights through Sayreville and all of North Jersey including Englewood Cliffs, Paramus and Rutherfordton Township (now part of Union City). In 1927 when District 2 merged intoDistrict 3 which included all of Bergen County except for East Brunswick Township (which became part of Edison), Mrs Hylan’s donation remained property within District 3 until it was transferred back to District 3 upon its establishment as an independent municipal district pursuant to state law (Public Law 93–234; PSEA No 90–163). In 1950, hasbrucksheights Borough Council established a recreation department under the authority of Borough Manager Raymond Kappelman which still exists today as Recreation Department/Borough Park Services Inc.. On September 11th 1966 local resident Robert Burch spearheaded efforts throughout his township and beyond to prevent any terrorist attacks taking place during New York's 4thof July celebrations by organizing patriotic displays throughout town - replicating similar displays take place every year around this time throughout America . As word spread about these events local businesses began donating items like flags and banners for display outside their properties . This effort eventually led to widespread patriotism becoming an integral part of daily life among locals where even little things like displaying stars & stripes outside our stores can mean something special Not too long after this event occurred , another large community action transpired involving many members from both communities coming togetherto clean up surrounding parkland following allegations that someone associated with terrorism residing inside Jersey City may have utilized this area for target practice .Following this event security concerns increased significantly over fears that terrorist activities may occur again if not addressed . Hasbrouck Heights is a census-designated place (CDP) in Sussex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first European to see what was now Hasbrouck Heights was Lt. John French in 1714 when he and three others surveyors traveled through the area on their way from Morristown to Trenton. French named the area for Nicholas Hasbrouck, an Englishman who had settled in Delaware in 1681. The first house built on this site was called "French's House" and it stood until 1813 when it burned down due to fire caused by lightning strike. Dutch explorer Hendrick Hudson explored and charted the Susquehanna River valley in 1609-1610 while passing through present-day Sussex County; he named its headwaters "Hudson's Reach". In 1714, Lieutenant John French of Colchester Township took up residence at Frenchman's House after his forces destroyed a Dutch plantation near Hackensack during the invasion of New Netherland. France surveyed and mapped much of present day Sussex County during his survey expedition which also included visits to Hackensack and Middletown. In 1724, Nicholas Hasbrouck moved from Delaware with his family to reside in what is now Hassontown Township because of religious persecution there under King George II's rule at that time. Healing society Society forthe Relief of Poor Welsh Immigrants had been founded two years earlier by prominent Quaker clergyman Reverend Hugh Pricey as a means of helping those fleeing discriminatory treatment within Wales at that time following concerns raised by then Prime Minister Thomas Paine about British policies towards these groups of people living among Europeans - primarily Catholics - being persecuted without Parallel Protection or other legal recourse available to them under English law at that time. After moving to Hassontown Township, Hasbrouck became involved with many aspects of local life including serving as treasurer for township government from 1730-1735 and later as mayor from 1739-1741; he also served as justice of peace for several years between 1741-1745 inclusive). In addition, he served as moderator for the first meeting of Princeton Monthly Meeting dated November 11th [1744] which resulted in creating Princeton Academy which still exists today (the current building was completed in 1874). After leaving office as Mayor/Treasurer due to poor health, Hasbrouck resided near East Brunswick until his death there on February 3rd [1801] aged 80 years old; he is buried next to wife Sarah Ann (née Richardson) located just northeast of their home on Bemis Road off Route 9A east side Street where they raised six children: Nicholas (born around 1700), James (born March 25th [1702]), John Jr.(born December 12th [1704]), Hannah(Born January 22nd [1800]) Rachel(Born July 6th [1804]), Mary(Born October 15th [1808]). His widow Sarah Ann continued living until her death on May 2nd 1851 aged 86 years old; she is buried next to her husband Nicholas just northeast of their home east side Street southwest corner street direct road northwest border line

The area was first settled by German immigrants in the 17th century. In 1824, the township of Hudson formed from parts of Bergen Township and had its own government. In 1834, part of what is now Hasbrouck Heights were annexed into West Orange Township. In 1924, part of Hasbrouck Heights were annexed into Bloomfield Township. In 1974, portions of Bloomfield and East Brunswick Township were combined to form the new township of Paramus.
