The first optical accessory store in Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey was opened by Mrs. Laura A. Stone in 1922 in an old building on the corner of Second and Third Streets. The store featured a variety of eyeglasses, contact lenses, and sunglasses. In 1941, the store was relocated to its current location on Second Street between Washington and Livingston Streets. In 1951, the store became a part of The Sales Company chain and changed its name to The Sales Company Optical Department. In 1973, the company merged with JBL Corporation and changed its name to JBL Corp., Inc. In 1984, JBL Corp., Inc.) merged with Philips Corporation (Philips) and became Philips Optoelectronics Corporation (POC). In 1991, POC acquired Sylvania Electronics Corporation's new optical products business which consisted of various types of optics including contact lens supplies, sunglasses supplies, spectacles/sunglasses systems, ultraviolet ray equipment and other related products from Sylvania's former parent company Sanyo Electric Industry Co., Ltd.). At that time POC also acquired all assets of RCA/Philips America Ophthalmic Products Division which included approximately 60% of the entire United States optical product market for contact lens sales. Since then POC has continued to grow its optoelectronic businesses through acquisitions such as Johnson & Johnson's Infusion Technology Division in 2006; Covidient plc.'s CoulterVision division in 2009; Bausch & Lomb Companies' Agilent Technologies division in 2011; Atheros Communications' True Vision acquisition announced in late 2012; and Zenitar Imaging Solutions LLC’s Omni-Lens system announced as a new product line on October 1st 2013. On May 3rd 2014 it was announced that POC had agreed to acquire Fresnel Group AG's SpectraVision division for an undisclosed sum totaling about $1 billion dollars subject to regulatory approvals
Hasbrouck Heights is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. Hasbrouck Heights was formed on April 20, 1868 from portions of Rahway and Newton Addison Boroughs.

Hsbrouck Heights is a neighborhood in the town of Hasbrouck Heights, New Jersey, United States. The area now known as Hsbrouck Heights was first settled by Germans in the mid-19th century. It originally consisted of three villages: Hamlet #1, Hamlet #2 and Olde Nazareth. After World War II, the population of Hsbrouck Heights rapidly grew due to new development in the surrounding areas. The community's name comes from German settlers who named their village "Hirschbek", meaning "horses" or "horse farm". The first post office was established in 1887 and was called Hamlet #1. The name change came about because it had been difficult for residents to get mail to their homes from nearby towns. In 1912, a school was built at this location and became known as Old Nazareth School District No. 5; it remained in operation until 1984 when it merged with neighboring Union Township Elementary School District No. 6 to form Hasbrouck Heights Schools Incorporated. In 1951, the Township of Union created a new borough within its borders which would be known as Hasbrouck Heights Borough Councilman Joseph J. Siegel announced that he had submitted plans for what would become one of America's newest neighborhoods - Hsbrouck Heights - to be developed on land that once belonged to his ancestors who were German immigrants who started farming there in the late 1800s. The development project took many years but eventually went through and was completed in 1974. There have been several waves of immigration over time – most notably during World War II when many GIs moved into Hasbroucks Hills after helping liberate Europe from Nazi rule – but today most residents are Americanized Dutch born families who are descendants of earlyDutch Settlers such as John Kieft and Johannes Vermeer whose families arrived here between 1795-1800 AD
The Hasbrouck Heights area of New Jersey was first settled by Dutch colonists in the early 17th century. The original Dutch settlers were farmers who grew maize, wheat and other crops. The area became known as "Haberdasherie" because of the many huts that were built to store goods during the wintertime. In 1857, a group of English-speaking farmers began to settle in the area and they named their new community "Hasbrouck Heights". The English name stuck and has been used ever since.
