Hammonton is a town in Burlington County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 10,488 at the 2010 census. Hammonton is located on the southern edge of Burlington County and is bordered by Amboy Township to the west and east, White Township to the north, and Easton Township to the south. The first Europeans to visit what is now Hammonton were Dutch settlers in 1609. In 1714, a group of English colonists began trading with Native Americans here. By 1746, when British troops arrived in America, Hammonton was part of Princeton Township. On July 1, 1768, it became a separate municipality under the name of "Hamilton". In 1812-13 an American Expedition against Canada's North West Company met here with heavy losses. On October 25th 1814 General George Washington led an army overland from Trenton across New Jersey into Pennsylvania for this purpose; but he had no intention of marching through Burlington County as he did not know that Hamilton had already been evacuated by its inhabitants and consolidated with Easton Township. Under American rule until 1828 Hamilton functioned as a court town (township courts continued functioning until 1865). The first settler in what is now Hammonton was Abram de Houtman who arrived there in 1609 aboard his ship "Vanderkruis" along with twenty other colonists from Holland. He built a small cabin on present day Moorings Road near where current Hammondsontown Rd meets Old Bridge Road which served as his home until his death in 1659 aged fifty-six years old. Benedictus Bokma came to America in 1692 aboard " Voortrekker" also known as "Nieuw Amsterdam". He located himself at present day Hammondsontown Rd and founded what would become Amboy township on August 15th 1700 while living at Hackensack River which lay just outside Trenton proper on land that later became part of Easton township boundaries when that township was created out of parts of five other townships: White (northwest corner), Amboy (northern corner), Harrison (southwest corner), Princeton Junction (eastern border) and Waterford Junction (western border). At first only male landowners could own slaves however after some time female landowners started owning slaves too which probably increased their economic power since they could work directly for their masters instead of being bought or leased/traded like many African women were then able to do. This system worked well for slave owners because they managed their workers effectively without having them working off their debts to others whereas most free black Americans did not have such control over their lives so they often worked off their debtors' terms rather than enjoying quality life conditions even though they enjoyed free access to goods and services generally available unto white men at that time including education opportunities nonetheless most blacks found themselves trapped within traditional white wage labor patterns whereby employers paid them relatively low wages for very long periods thus limiting both their opportunities for upward social mobility within white society as well as developing self-identity within black societies based upon these experiences henceforth known collectively among some historians as “the Great Migration” although actually more individualistic motivations such as wanting independence from parental control or seeking new opportunities due primarilyto dissatisfaction with existing social structures prevailed among many blacks during this period notwithstanding various attempts by leading ministers throughout America— both Protestant and Catholic— urged upon Congress specifically during its early years following independence not merely Recognition but Reform Of Negro Slavery’ which failed miserably every time thanks largely To ebenezer Baptist Church Pastor Daniel Webster evergreen contemporary example) hamilton new jersey

They recommended that officers use them as a last resort after other methods have been exhausted and when there is an imminent danger to life or property.

Hammonton was a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States, until the early 21st century. The population of Hammonton was 7,000 at the time of its incorporation as a borough on October 1, 1912. It was then reduced to 3,500 by 1960 and 2,500 by 2000. The first occupants of what is now Hammonton were Germans who arrived from Alsace-Lorraine in 1814. They erected the first permanent European settler's house in what is now the hamlet on November 12 of that year. In 1828 German immigrants founded the community of Allentown which became one of their most important trading towns with its own cotton gin and other industries. In 1892 two brothers - Julius and Wilhelm Kapp - purchased land adjacent to present day Hammonton Township for $5 per acre. This land had been donated by John Pemberton and it lay within what would become Mercer County while still lying within Alsace-Lorraine boundaries. The Kapp brothers began construction on a large brick farmhouse which they named "Doris". The farmstead still stands today along Route 9 north of downtown Hammonton (just east of where I-95 currently connects). After 10 years business success in Allentown led to an expansion into Mercer County; however due to permitting difficulties they only built 6 homes before abandoning their venture in 1905 for good. An older millrace running through much of what is now downtown also served as a water supply for many years before being diverted into I-95 via a new access road just south of town during the late 1990s when I-95 was realigned following Hurricane Floyd which caused extensive damage across northeastern NJ including Hammonton Borough and portions surrounding it. The township's last major industry was agriculture until after World War II when petrochemical plants replaced textile mills throughout New Jersey because those plants could produce more jobs than could be found manufacturing textiles again after the war. However petrochemicals never took hold like textile mills did andHammonton ranked third among all municipalities in NJ behind Camden and Trenton with respect to job loss during this period despite having about twice as many residents as either Trenton or Camden combined! After statehood in 1947hamletty lost somemitigation against increases granted to neighboring municipalities such as Gloucester City (to the north)and Edison (to the southwest) although hamLETty did annex parts of Gloucester City beginning with block C along Rte 9 near current day East Brunswick Mall joined forces with hamLETty effective date 5/1/1984 reincorporating partof GloucesterCity frommercercounty effective date 8/15/1990 resultingin an increase(from 471 residentsamalgamationto 716 residentseffective date 1/1/1992)of over 50%. Hammonton was a small, unincorporated community in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. It was located on the right bank of the Hackensack River and consisted of a few homes and businesses. The community ceased to exist after it was abandoned by its residents in the early 1920s.
