Hammonton is located in the township of Monmouth County, New Jersey. The first store in Hammonton was opened by John and Lillian Hogg on December 5, 1875. The town grew quickly and by 1889 there were three stores and a post office. By 1904, Hammonton had six businesses and a population of over 350 people. In 1906, the first electric light was installed in Hammonton and by 1912, the town had two churches, one public school and ten homes. In 1916, a movie theater was built in Hammonton and it remained operational until 1978. In 1951, the Township of Monmouth County established an education board which took over responsibility for providing schools for the community. In 1957, an addition to the post office was built to serve the new population of Hammonton which reached 1,000 people that year. In 1962-1964 two floods occurred which destroyed many homes in the community including one church. In 1964-1966 two more floods struckHammonton; however these did not cause as much damage as earlier events. In 1970-1972 construction began on what would become known as "The mall" which would consist of twelve shops/stores along with four restaurants/cafés along with a movie theater starring Regal Cinemas across from High School ground zero area near interchange ramps I-95 & NJ 287 (now called "The Parkway"). The mall opened on October 12th 1972 and included many features that are still common today such as high ceilings & walls made out of glass so shoppers can see everything inside while shopping!

Hammonton is a village in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,869 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Wilmington metropolitan area. Hammonton was originally named for Samuel Hammonton, a captain in the American Revolution and member of the Pennsylvania Assembly. The first Europeans to visit what is now hammonton were French Jesuits who established a small mission in 1701 on land that still stands today. The settlement grew rapidly as farmers started to settle in the area around 1730 and by 1740 there were 80 people living here. The first school opened in this locality on October 12, 1741; it operated under private auspices until 1809 when it became part of Mercer County School District #1. In 1814, construction began on what would become known as Fort Washington which served as an artillery fortification during the War of 1812. After being abandoned for several years due to lack of funding, Fort Washington was reactivated and used by Union troops during the American Civil War from 1861-1865 before being decommissioned following that conflict. After World War II ended, many refugees from Europe settled in Hammonton including many Jews who had fled Nazi Germany. In 1949, hamilton incorporated as a borough within Camden County and has remained so ever since. As with most municipalities absorbded into larger counties after World War II, hamilton experienced rapid growth over time and achieved nearly two thousand residents by 1980 according to Census Bureau figures This continued rapid growth through annexations within Camden County (1996), Middlesex County (2000), and Atlantic COUNTY (2002). With present day boundaries setting off smaller communities near each other along Route 11 east of Interstate 95., hamilton now covers 8 square miles with 2 thousand residentships!

Hammonton is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,814 at the 2010 census. Hammonton was founded in 1799 by John Hamleton and his family. In 1812, the hamlet of Hammonton became part of the township of Monmouth. In 1881, Monmouth Township split into two parts: East Monmouth Township and West Monmouth Township. East Monmouth Township annexed the village of Hammonton on December 3, 1984. The first settler in what is now Hammonton was John Hamleton who arrived there in 1799 from Scotland with his wife and four children. He built a house on the site that still stands today and named it "Hamlet". They lived there until 1800 when they moved to what is now called "Easton". In 1812 they bought property next door to where they currently live and renamed it "Hamlet Park." There they raised horses and cattle until 1815 when they started to grow crops. For a time during this time period they also ran a mill which produced flour for local merchants. From here their continue growth as farmers until 1838 when prices for land went up so much that they decided to move again - this time to what is now known as "Weston". They continued farming there until 1840 when violence started occurring between Native Americans (the Lenni Lenape) and settlers over land rights issues; this led to many residents moving out of Weston due to fears for their safety. In 1861, after years of debate, West Monmouth Township first voted to become an independent borough within Middlesex County; however, because Hammondton did not want its own municipality it remained within East Monmouth Township (later renamed Westmonbury). On February 15th 1865 Hammondton voters passed an ordinance creating a Borough Board with five members including one from each township committee member plus one commissioner from each police department; these were all filled by men only with no woman being allowed on the board at that time! This effort was successful enough that on March 8th 1870 Hammondton became one of three townships within Middlesex County proper – along with Cheverly/Middlesex Heights/Lodi and South Brunswick – making it possible for women also voting in municipal elections! After months of discussion between both sets of government officials over how best to run things HAMLETTON BOARD OF EDUCATION WAS ESTABLISHED! This Board provided instruction through high school students grades 9-12 at home using common classrooms located adjacent to Holy Cross Episcopal Church located at 202 North Main Street which served as our High School for nearly 60 years! On July 1st 1906 HAMLETTON BOROUGH DOWNTOWN WESTON VILLAGE merged into HAMELTON!!!

Hammonton was founded in 1748 by George Washington and his father, James Washington. It was the first town in Middlesex County. The first store in Hammonton opened in 1753. The village of Hammonton was incorporated as a borough on February 24, 1836. On December 3, 1868, it became a city under the provisions of an act of the New Jersey Legislature which passed at that time to provide for the organization of cities within the state. The city's charter was granted on April 6, 1898. The original mills were destroyed by fire in 1892 and a new mill was built but failed to take off because of competition from larger mills closer to Philadelphia. In 1916, Hammonton had its own electrical plant with 2 million kilowatts of power and 1,500 employees; it also had its own water supply system. The city limits were increased by adding parts of Freehold Township on either side of Route 22 eastward from Interstate 95 until they reached Route 9 southward from I-95; this made Hammonton the second largest municipality within New Jersey after Newark and before Paterson when it became a metropolitan area with a population over 100,000 people in 1998. In 2006, all but 4 blocks within the City limits (northwest corner along US 21) were annexed by Paterson due to diversity reasons common among municipalities that have more than one charters/cities status (e.g., City of Camden). As part as part of this annexation process some properties included property lines which date back to early days when Hammonton consisted just three houses and an old school house next door to each other
