Hammonton is a township in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,813 at the 2010 census. Hammonton is part of the Philadelphia-Camden-Wilmington, PA-NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first people to live in what is now Hammonton were Native Americans who hunted and fished in the area. The first European to settle in what is now Hammonton was Nicholas de Montresor, who founded a small town called Montresor on the banks of the Delaware River in 1681. In 1720, Samuel Blount bought 2/3 of land grants from Nicholas de Montresor for $1 per acre. In 1727, John Woolridge purchased 1/3 of these same grants from Blount for $2 per acre. These early settlers were primarily farmers and traders with little involvement in local government or municipal affairs. In 1814, 3 brothers - Moses (Moses), Solomon (Solomon) and Elias Howe - pooled their money and bought 10 acres of land east of present day Bridge Street for $10 per acre. This property would later become known as "The Howe Farm". They began to farm this land and built a house on it around 1830s which still stands today as part of the hamlet's history museum complex. The name "Hammonton" was derived from this house which stood near where Cherry Valley Road meets US 41 today. In 1825, two men named Ebenezer Browning and Amos Kendall bought 1/4section total (5 acres) along present day Bridge Street for $12 per acre from Moses Howe. This property would later become known as "The Kendall Farm". They started farming this land which they named after their three sons: Ebenezer (1826-1902), Amos Jr.(1829-1892), Isaac(1830-) . With this purchase they became owners of most of what is now hamletsite including Bridge Street itself betweenpresent day Cherryvale Road & US 41Today's Red Bank Rd., just north of interchange with I-95Newark Liberty St & Old Mill Rd.. Their farmstead went through several changes over time until it became fully integrated intothe community by 1920 when it was renamed "Hammonton Township." This period saw some significant growth within hamlet due largely to new technology that had arisen during this time such as railroads that brought traffic into the area; however also housing developments sprang up throughout central Camden Township concurrent with industrialization across much Northeast Pennsylvanian townships during this era caused by increased disposable income among working class residents fleeing cities like Pittsburgh&Philadelphiaduringthistime On July 4th 1870 Burlington Railroad track crossed Cherryvale Road (& US 41 today) making Hamleton an incorporated borough under NJ state law becoming one entity with its own school board & mayor whileBridgeSt remained unincorporatedand remains so today

The origins of the AR-15 rifle can be traced back to 1957 when a team of engineers at Colt Firearms developed a new design for an assault rifle that would later be called the AR-10. The weapon was initially designed to fulfill requirements for the U.S. Army’s Basic Combat Pistol program; however, it proved too powerful and too difficult to manufacture on a large scale, so it was not put into production until after John F Kennedy had been assassinated in 1961. In 1964, Colt Firearms merged with Research & Development Corporation (R&D), which became known as Browning Arms Company (BAC). BAC continued to develop new weapons under this name until 1970 when they merged with Winchester Arms Company (Winchester) to form Winchester Repeating Arms Company (WRAC). WRAC continued developing assault rifles under their own name until 1978 when they were purchased by Sturm Ruger Incorporated (SRI). At this point, all traces of BAC were eliminated from WRAC’s product line; however, these products retain their Henderson company designation “Browning Assault Rifles” today even though they are no longer made by Henderson.) In 1979, SRI transferred ownership of their assault rifles intellectual property to Heckler & Koch AG who continued development under their own name until 1987 when they merged with G3M Weapons Manufacturing Incorporated (G3MWI) to form Heckler & Koch USA LLC.(H&K USA now manufactures pistols as well as assault rifles.) From 1987 through 1998 H&KUSA produced almost all Ar15 variants including: carbine/slide models such as Model 730A4(AR-10), Carbine/Slide Model 760(AR-15), Sport Bushmaster model 870(5 rating), 9mm Parabellum pistol (.45 ACP), .223 Remington rimfire ammunition (.24 caliber muzzleloader cartridge) 5 round magazines also available., 10 round magazine available., Blackpowder revolver chambered for black powder only projectiles such as those made by Samuel Adamspowder Co.(SAMCO) and others .) During this time period H&KUSA also manufactured select components for many other types of firearms such as shotguns and grenade launchers

In 1827, the town was renamed to Elizabethtown after Elizabeth II of England. In 1881, a railroad depot was built in Hammonton and the town began to experience rapid growth as a result. By 1915, Elizabethtown had a population of over 3000 and it continued to grow until World War II when it lost its status as an important commercial center due to the decline in textile manufacturing. After the war,Elizabethtown experienced a period of stagnation which followed until the late 1960s when it began to experience significant growth again due to advances in technology. Today, Elizabethtown is an important community with strong ties to its history and culture.
