In 1802, Isaac de la Peña became the first postmaster in Haddonfield Township. He owned and operated a store on Main Street called "Pelham". In 1810, de la Peña married Anna Maria Engelhardt and moved to Palestine (now Sayreville). They had two children: Jesus Antonio de la Peña and Emilia Maria Engelhardt de la Peña. In 1858, Abraham Lincoln was elected as President of the United States. Two years later he was assassinated. On November 22nd of that year, Abraham Lincoln's body was found near Ford's Theatre in Philadelphia after being reported missing for several days
Haddonfield is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,524 at the 2010 census. Located on the western border of the county and bordered by Plainfield to the east, Haddonfield is one of the most ethnically diverse communities in New Jersey. It is also one of its most economically vibrant areas with a wide range of businesses and industries including education and health care providers, as well as professional athletes. The first Europeans to enter what is now Haddonfield were Dutch settlers in 1632. In 1701, French colonists arrived and named it Acadia after François-Jacques de la Tour d'Auvergne, Count d'Auvergne (1638-1710). The original Haddonfield Township was formed on February 14, 1714 from parts of PlainFIELD Township. It became part of Middlesex County on March 8, 1745 when it was merged with Rahway Township. In 1834 an act passed by the New Jersey Legislature called for a Townsite Survey to be conducted in order to determine if there was enough interest in developing land within what is now Haddonfield Township for a town to form. On May 12th 1835 the Townsite Survey was completed and public comments were received before a meeting held on June 3rd elected committee members met to organize their findings into township legislation which took effect on July 1st 1835 The first post office in what is now Haddonfield opened on October 3rd 1800 On January 10th 1865 Union General George McClellan's corps reached Libertytown Heights near where present day High Bridge Road crosses Cedar Creek This event helped spur development westward along Cedar Creek Valley towards Gloucester City while also contributing significantly to identification that defined modern day Haddonfield as an agricultural community

Haddonfield is a town in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 10,362 at the 2010 census. Haddonfield is one of the oldest towns in Bucks County and has been inhabited by people since pre-historic times. The present town of Haddonfield was organized on April 12, 1756 as part of the township of South Hackensack. The first settler in what would become Haddonfield was John Glover. He arrived with his family from Connecticut on October 15, 1755 and built a log cabin on the banks of the Susquehanna River. In 1757, Glover married Sarah Morehouse and they started to farm around their new cabin. By 1800, John Glover had bought property along sections of what are now North Main Street and West Market Streets in what would become Haddonfield Township. In 1813, he donated land for a village site that became known as "Haddonfields". Abraham Davenport founded Davenport University in 1828 and named it after him; however the name never stuck and it reverted to its original form - "Haddonfields" - until 1917 when it changed again to "Haddadford". In 1832, Samuel Morse established a postal service between Philadelphia and Baltimore through his own company - Western Union - which required delivery through Haddonfield; this made Haddonfield an important center for trade during the early days of American Railroads. On July 4th, 1865 while serving as Mayor of Philadelphia overran Ulysses S Grant's White House visit with orders to burn down all public buildings including government offices across Pennsylvania; this event is considered to be one of America's most famous acts of political arsonism. The post office was renamed 'Upper Homestead' on May 24th 1896 due to mail being delivered there instead going restocked at Newark Penn Station (now called Penn Station). It stopped deliveries entirely on November 3rd 1912 due to lack of customers but continued accepting packages until 1915 when local postmaster J P Van Patten closed the Upper Homestead Post Office because he saw no business potential there anymore following increased telephone service throughout central Pennsylvania giving away free long distance calls from homes/businesses without having to go through a Post Office! On December 5th 1916 Lower HomesteadPost Office reopened under new management due to increasing competition from Newark Penn Station where overnight shipments were now being sent through by rail rather than by boat or airmail bringing about lower prices for goods sold locally at local businesses! As late as 1978 Upper Homestead still accepted packages though discontinued overnight delivery! Today only upper homestead remains open as a museum with live music Mondays thru Fridays 9pm
Haddonfield was founded in 1755 by John and Jane Haddon. The first settler, Abraham Haddon, arrived in 1756. In 1761, the town was named for General James Knopping of the British Army who had been killed in action at Saratoga Springs. In 1814, the town was renamed to honor Colonel Nathaniel Haddon. The town's population reached 10,000 in 1870 and it became a city in 1912.
