1848 - Haddonfield was founded on a farm in what is nowboundary Township, Hunterdon County. 1910 - The first post office opened in Haddonfield. 1945 - The population of Haddonfield grew to over 10,000. 1965- In the aftermath of the Newark Liberty International Airport fire,Haddonfield began its own airport with a runway that is still in use today. 1970s- 1980s- 1990s - Haddonfield experienced rapid growth and development due to its location as an industrial center and its status as a bedroom community for New York City. 2000s- 2010s - It has seen significant redevelopment in recent years with the addition of new housing, businesses, and schools.
Haddonfield is a small town in New Jersey, located on the Delaware River. The population was 9,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden County region. The first Europeans to visit Haddonfield were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1638 and built a trading post on the riverbank. By 1689, Haddonfield had a population of about 150 people and was an agricultural center supplying goods to Philadelphia. In 1714, Haddonfield became part of Pennsylvania as Lancaster COUNTY, but retains its Dutch name of Hooghtenhage (“High House”). On July 12, 1776, during America's Revolutionary War against Great Britain, American forces burned down the British military barracks at Hooghtenhage while under occupation by British troops. In 1808-1809, Andrew Jackson traveled through southern New Jersey and stopped at Hooghtenhage before reaching Princeton in Princeton County. President James K. Polk visited Hooghtenhage in early 1904 for his inauguration parade route from Washington D.C., stopping there on his way upriver to Trenton NJ from Harrisburg PA; he stately boat port landing there remains today as Memorial Park Boat Landing & Museum which has been preserved since then with many displays and events related thereto each year including operational races etc.). Haddonfield Township was established by act of Parliament on March 25th 1798 as one of 10 townships within Gloucester County NEW JERSEY due south of Elizabethtown along the Delaware River; it consisted of 4 square miles (10 km²) north central portion lying east side river bank between Raritan Bay and Monmouth Creek having highlands extending into Lebanon Valley thence northerly along Monmouth Creek bluff to Centerboro township line where upland met lowlands forming broad valley bottom lying southeast side river bank between Centerboro creek & Raritan bay infill began The township boundaries changed frequently with increasing amounts of land being annexed or taken over by other municipalities during the 18th century until finally all land within limits set forth above became part of City OF PHILADELPHIA upon incorporation in 1876 thru act Of Legislature . In 1892 when Philadelphia attained city status all boroughs within CITY were merged intoPhiladelphia including Haddonfield . The Boroughs OF HADDONFIELD AND ELIZABETHTOWN remained separate until 1972 when those two boroughs were combined into one new borough called Camden . As a result OF HADDONFIELD NO LONGER INCLUDES THE TOWNSHIP OF ELIZABETHTOWN IN CLAREMONT COUNTY BUT DOES ACCESS ALL AREAS CONTAINING OVER 2 MILES (500 KM²) DEEP WATERFRONT ON THE DELAWARE RIVER BETWEEN PHILADELPHIA AND CAMDEN

Haddonfield is a small town in Hunterdon County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–Wilmington–New York metropolitan area. Haddonfield was first settled by Germans in 1736 and became an incorporated borough on March 14, 1814. The name derives from a nearby peak called Haddon Hill. The borough seat was located in the village of West Mifflin until it was moved to Haddonfield in 1831. The Borough of Haddonfield was created on March 14, 1814 as part of the consolidation of three smaller towns: West Mifflin (founded 1736), Easton ( founded 1792) and Hackensack ( founded 1795). On November 3, 1874, portions of what had been West Mifflin Township were merged into Haddonfield Township; this left Hackensack as the only township within Hunterdon County that did not join forces with either Camden or Philadelphia during the early years of 20th century municipal consolidation. During World War II, large numbers of Jews migrated to America from Europe and came to reside in central NJ for work in munitions plants and other war-time industries; many also settled in South Orange and Union City which soon grew larger than Haddonfield due to their Jewish populations. After the war most Jews gradually withdrew from central NJ but some continued to live there until they left or were displaced by gentrification around 1990-2000%. In 2007 Census data*, almost 60%* of residents identified themselves as “Jewish” – up slightly since 2000 when it stood at 53%. Today much evidence remains documenting German farms/settlements/communities living here prior to WWII while others claim Dutch or British presence too numerous & continuous (& often ignored) for any single event alone to account for entire community's demise (& assimilation). Many stories circulate about friendly natives helping out during tough times – think Peter Lougheed’s story about His Excellency General David Petraeus giving him a job tending cows on his farmstead during wartime? Anyway… back home we gathered our strength together (& started house hunting!) & gottin' ready for another round o' wacky Beginnings… kinda like those old black & white commercials where you see people walking down Main Street all cuddly with kittens before finally cut off TOWARDS THE END WHERE THEY SEEM TO ACCEPT THEIR JUDGEMENT WITHOUT A WORD OF QUESTION! * remaining over 50% identify themselves as "Jewish" despite decreasing population share
