The fire was started by two men sitting around a campfire when they realized their smoke screen had been removed by someone else nearby. On July 26th of each year since 1892 - July 26th being National Fire Prevention Day - local farmers gather together to celebrate early summer weather with a picnic outdoors called "The Great Pumpkin Picnic". This includes games such as tag or cornhole; picnics including various types of food; music; children's activities like arts and crafts; fellowship Reformed church services led by pastors from different denominations; tree-lighting ceremonies; fireworks displays between 9pm and 10pm during which time many children are able to experience exploding firecrackers for the first time
