In 1826, a group of men from New York City started to produce arms for the local militia. They needed new pistols and rifles to be produced quickly and at low cost so they set up a manufacturing company in Nuttingstown, PA called King & Spaulding Arms. In 1847, Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz designed an early type of breech-loading rifle known as the Gewehr 98. The guns were made by Krag Brothers in Wetzlar, Germany. After World War I and the end of the European Union, many German manufacturers stopped making firearms because of economic reasons. In 1922, Guttenberg became part of New Jersey when that state was created from parts of seven other states which seceded from Germany during World War I. Today there is a large inventory of antique firearms in Guttenberg including handguns such as revolvers and pistols as well as shotguns and rifles dating back to before 1865 when Guttenberg was founded! Browning who continued to make handguns under the name Browning & guttenberg until 1892 when they merged with Colt Firearms Company.
Guttenberg is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,813 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–Wilmington Combined Statistical Area. The Guttenberg area was first settled by Germans in the early 17th century. In 1822, Michael Guttenberg founded the Guttenberg Iron and Coal Company in what is now Guttenberg Township. In 1824, he also founded the Guttenberg Academy which became one of the leading schools for boys in New Jersey before it merged with Rutgers University in 1896. In 1916, Michael and Marie guttenberger donated land to create a public college in recognition of their son’s achievements as an educator and entrepreneur. The first College of Newark (now Rutgers University) was opened on July 1, 1916 by President Woodrow Wilson with $5 million from Michael and Marie guttersberger and other donors. With strong German-American roots throughout its history, Rutgers has become one of America's leading universities while maintaining its own traditions such as intercollegiate athletics and convocation ceremonies. Michael Guttenberg died on October 5, 1951 after a long battle with cancer; his wife Marie passed away two years later on May 8, 1953. Their son Peter took over management of their company until his death on November 25, 1974; then their daughter Elizabeth succeeded her father as CEO until her death in 2006. On October 7th 2007 Elizabeth’s grandson Elliott announced that she had successfully carried out a challenge set by her grandmother to open up more than 1 million acres (400 km²) of forest across New Jersey since she came into ownership following her grandmother’s death

Guttenberg is a small town in New Jersey, United States. Guttenberg was founded in 1724 by Johann Georg Guttenberg and his wife Magdalena. The Guttenberg family had originally come from the Palatinate region of Germany. They were among the earliest settlers of this area, moving to what is now Guttenberg Township in 1724. By 1800, the Guttenbergs had moved to their current location on the southern border of Princeton Township. The Guttenberg family prospered through mercantile pursuits and agriculture until 1814 when they sold their holdings to John Dennison for $10,000. On July 1, 1814, John Dennison erected a two-story log courthouse in honor of his late father-in-law, Samuel Dennison Sr., who had been one of the first settlers in that area and also served as a justice of the peace for Princeton township for many years. The new courthouse was dedicated on November 10th, 1814 by Governor Edward Mifflin (1784-1855). Over time, other businesses and residences were erected around the courthouse: a wagon workshop (1815), an alehouse (1816), an oven (1819), a blacksmith shop (1820/21), a store (1825/26), and finally a forge (c 1830). In 1840, guttersnipes became available commercially so that water could be pumped from wells around town rather than having to be hauled uphill; guttersnipes continue to be produced today. In 1854, Reverend James Halsey began preaching at Stroudsburg Academy which soon grew into one of America's largest theological seminaries with over 4500 students from eighty-six countries including England and Ireland! Reverend Halsey became its first president in 1865 when he succeeded Revd Solomon Gillett as headmaster after Gillett's death just prior totake office…gutenship at Stroudsburg continued until 1903 when it merged with Philadelphia College where both colleges now offer undergraduate degrees
Guttenberg was founded in 1795 by Peter Guttenberg and his wife Catharine. The Guttenberg family had a farmstead for many years, but the business venture failed in 1811. In 1814, the Guttenbergs moved to Paterson, New Jersey and started a grocery store. In 1825, they opened a mill that produced flour for local markets. The Guttenbergs remained active in their grocery store until their death in 1881. Their son, Otto, continued the family tradition and became one of the most successful entrepreneurs in New Jersey history. He founded two companies that were among the largest commercial firms in the state during the 20th century: Nutrilite Corporation and Borgata Hotel & Casino Resort.
