Guttenberg is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 10,527 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from German Guttenberg ( meaning " hollow mountain"), which is located in its center and forms part of the municipality. The first European settler in Guttenberg was Nicholas Muller who arrived on October 9, 1764 from Munster, Germany with his family. He built a cabin on what is now Main Street within today's boundaries of the current community. Muller's son Michael founded another small settlement called Rankinstown to the east on March 3rd, 1768 after purchasing some land from John Rankin. It was through Michael Rankin that Guttenberg took its name; he named itafter his father-in-law Johann Georg Rankin who had settled there in 1683. In 1812 Adam Clayton Powell Jr., one of the founders of The New York Cotton Exchange and future U.S. congressman from Harlem, purchased 2 acres (8 ha) near present day Main Street for $100 and began farming it into adulthood becoming one of Guttenberg’s earliest landowners and business leaders including being an early owner/operator of what is now known as Guttenberg Park reservoir - opening it to the public for recreation in 1892 before selling it tothe Township for $1 million dollars in 1922 which remains today as township property.. In 1893 Abram Sanger opened Wetherbee’s grocery store at 202 First Avenue South & Third Street between present day Main street & Fourth avenue South (renamed Boulevard when guttenburg park opened). This Store became famous throughout New Jersey due to its fresh produce items offered such as bananas etc not commonly found elsewhere until well into the 20th century By 1914 Guttenberg boasted a population over 1,000 individuals with many businesses catering to local residents such as: Anker’s bakery (now known as Gerber), Post Office(later changed to JCPenney), Menard’s department store(now Macy’s), grocery store (Wetherbee's), blacksmith shop(now defunct), sawmill(later defunct). One hundred years ago gutteborg Park consisted onlyof 6 acres surrounded by farmland while now comprising over 54 acres with pools, tennis courts, playground area complete with slides and batting cages along With several large retail buildings including: Wetherbees Drugstore(renamed Macy's when gutttenburg park opened), PNC Banknorth America branch also inside gutteborg park along wetherbees drugstore &another large building manufactured by ralph reese company used for vehicle sales national guards Armory ), additional smaller buildings constructed over time such as: Schoolhouse Building erected circa 1915 used originally for storage or home economics classes before being remodeled circa 1980 into apartments seen today adjacent to tennis court . There are also numerous residential properties located within walking distance of Gutierreztown Park providing access onto beautiful rolling countryside complete with ponds, streams and hillsides making this an ideal location if looking for privacy yet still close enoughto enjoy all that life has to offer

In 2002, Captain Julius Guttenberg's family decided that it was time for their estate to be donation into a Gun Mag museum/archive so that future generations would have access to all their greatclub's history!
