Guttenberg, New Jersey was once a small town in Bergen County that struggled to maintain its place in the world. But over time, the community has come to embrace firearms as a way of life. In fact, Guttenberg is home to one of the oldest gunsmiths in America and has been able to keep up with changing technology and legislation while still maintaining a strong relationship with its hunting and shooting communities. One of Guttenberg's most notable residents was George Jesup who founded Guttenberg Gun Works in 1868. The company became known for making both rifles and pistols, serving various military and law enforcement agencies as well as individual hunters throughout New Jersey. Over the years, Guttenberg Gun Works produced some of the most iconic firearms in American history such as the M1892 Colt revolver and Ruger 10/22 rifle. But it wasn't just guns that Guttenberg exported abroad; they also had an extensive ammunition business. Beginning in 1865, Jesup started importing ammo from Europe into America under the name "Guns N' Ammunition." This operation grew gradually until it became an sizable enough concern that Jesup sold his business to Alfred Nobel in 1896. From then on, Nuttall Ammo ran Guttenberg Ammunition operations until 1999 when it was bought by privately held Remington Outdoor Company (ROC). At ROC, ammunition development continued at a rapid pace thanks to advances in technology and research at their labs across North America. This led to new products being designed specifically for hunting and shooting enthusiasts all over the continent – from muzzleloaders chambered for sub-machineguns like .50 BMG rounds through today's high-quality 5x55mm NATO rounds used by SWAT teams across North America

The Guttenberg Paper Mill produced paper for newspapers and other products until it ceased operations in 1966. In 1937, the company built a new paper mill with an attached refinery that enabled it to produce gasoline and diesel fuel for automobiles and trucks. The plant continued production through World War II but stopped after the war because of wartime restrictions on forests near military bases

Guttenberg is a town in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 8,913 at the 2010 census. Guttenberg was founded on March 24, 1795 by Johann Gottfried Guttenberg and his wife Angelica Becker. It was named for Johann Gottfried Guttenberg, one of the founders of the city of Frankfurt am Main. The Guttenberg family has been living in the town since 1692 when they arrived from Bohemia (now Czech Republic). They were among the first Europeans to settle in what is now Union County. In 1833, Guttenberg became part of Camden Township and then Camden County. The original home of the Guttenberg familystill stands today and is known as "The Gute Hause". In 1888, Frédéric Couture built a large estate called "Rockefeller Park" in present-day Nutley and donated it tothe township for use as a public school system center. This helped give birth to Rutgers University as we know it today -thanks largely to Rockefeller's largesse! In 1916, John Dyson bought Rockefellers estate for $1 million and set about transforming it into an educational complex that continues to this day as Rutgers University School of Engineering & Applied Sciences (REAS). Today's buildings date back to 1922 when Dyson merged two other schools - Hunter College and City College - into one entity under their new name: The State University of New Jersey at Newark (SUAN). In 1984 SUAN announced its merger with Morristown State Teachers' College (MSTC) creating Monmouth State University which still occupies Rockefeller Park today! Thanks again to Rockefeller, Rutgers university has a rich history dating back more than 270 years!
