Glen Rock, New Jersey is a city in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 26,751 at the 2010 census. The City of GlenRock was incorporated on November 3, 1876 as a town by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. On February 14, 1911, it became a city under the terms of an act approved by the General Assembly on March 11. The history of GlenRock goes back to 1812 when two brothers named John and Daniel Green founded the village of Greenville within present-day GlenRock Township (later part of Middlesex County). The Greenvilles were forced out of their home in 1823 by American troops during the War for Independence and moved to what is now Glen Rock. In 1836, David Cohan settled here with his family and started a millinery business which continued until 1865. The first school in town was built in 1840; it closed in 1951 due to financial difficulties. In 1896, local businessmen Andrew Dickson and George Snively formed the Dickson Transport Company to build a railway from Elizabethport through downtown to Paramus Junction (now Edison). This venture failed but saw initial success when passengers could buy tickets at local stores such as Smith's grocery store before boarding trains at Paramus Junction for their journey northwards. With this line open for business, locals began commuting into Newark or points north for work or pleasure activities that would have been difficult or impossible to do on foot or horseback before then. On July 6, 1912, Mayor Edward J Duffy announced that all municipalities within Middlesex County had become cities subject to state legislation authorizing them "to establish libraries...and other proper municipal functions." It wasn't until 1913 that mayors were given authority over water systems and waste management so that these functions could be handled by separate agencies - an event which helped pave the way forglenrock's incorporation into cityhood some 10 years later on November 3rd. In 1916 – following World War I – construction began on what would become known as "The Grande Dame" bridge across Morris Creek - one of only two crossingpoints between Newark and Camden at that time (the other being Fort Lee Ferry). Completed just three months ahead of schedule – thanks largely to donations from local businesses including those operating along the Transcontinental Railroad via Paramus Junction – this impressive structure allowed commuters travelling between Newark Liberty International Airport and Camden Terminal 2 no longer had Toe-over-Toe struggle down Morris Creek but instead enjoyed sparklingly clean crossingside streetscape complete with monumental iron railing throughout its length! Not only did this make travel much more comfortable for Newark residents who used both airports simultaneously but also gave new impetus (and revenue) to downtown businesses which had been struggling since wartime as traffic increased southward towards Camden! Glen Rocks' incorporation into cityhood marked not just its geographic separation from Newark but also its ascent onto national stage: after years dominated by smaller towns/villages located further inland within Middlesex County ourgranite representatives took control during those early 21st century decades leading up NJ Governor Raymond Egan’s inauguration ceremony swearing in 41 new members onto Trenton’s City Council!! That proud day has come long ago…but not least because we continue TO PROVIDE OUR COMMUNITY WITH HIGH QUALITY OF LIFE SERVICES INCLUDING PUBLIC SCHOOLS AND A GREAT CITY CLUBHOUSE

Glen Rock, New Jersey is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,688 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The first European settlers in what is now Glen Rock were Dutch Protestants who arrived in 1668 as part of the East India Company's Pilgrims. They named their new land "New Netherland". The first sexton to be appointed to Godfreytown (now Glen Rock) was John Gerard, also known as Father Goudreau. In 1701 a group of Swedish immigrants came and founded the village of Swedesboro on Tryon Township east of modern-day Glen Rock. In 1714 George Washington visitized this area and noted that "a great tract of country lying westward from Swedesboro...is very rich in coal." In 1821 an act was passed by Congress providing for township organization within Mercer County. John Fenton became the first township president and James Caldwell its first clerk. On May 14, 1825, Burlington Township formed from portions of Fenton Township and Parkerville Township with a population total of 511 residents The early days at Glenrock were difficult because there were noroads or rails until 1835 when a road was built between Bordentown and Ridgewood which allowed goods traffic to travel through the town unimpeded. By 1840 farmsteads had been established along both sides of this new road with many homes becoming hotels during America's Railroads Era. One such hotel was The Ritz-Carlton Hotel which opened on December 8th 1830 on Main Street just north of present day Route 906 (now US 1). When America's Railroad Age ended following Reconstruction in 1865 local businesses lost much trade due to lack thereof either being closed down or moving away during that time period

In 1875, the first post office in GlenRock opened. In 1905, GlenRock became an incorporated town with a population of 10 people. In 1965, it became a city with a population of over 50,000 people
