Glen Rock is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 23,829 at the 2010 census. It is the second most populous town in Middlesex County after Clifton. Glen Rock was founded as a village on the banks of the Passaic River by Scottish settlers in 1784. The name Glen Rock derived from "Gleann an Achaidh" meaning "the glen of the Achanids". By 1815, when Glen Rock became a full town, its name had been shortened to simply "Rock." The first settler to live in what is now Glenrock was James McMillan who arrived in 1784 and built a house on what is now Main Street. In 1802, John Beers bought land from McMillan and began farming it which he named Beersville. In 1824, George Armstrong purchased one-half interest in Beersville from John Beers and renamed it Glenrock after his home country Scotland. In 1827, Alexander Hamilton donated land to build a school and church which were dedicated on November 3rd of that year. The first public meeting held within the new community took place on December 2nd of that year under the auspices of the Presbyterian Church with Alexander Hamilton presiding over proceedings. After only six months' notice due to lack of attendance, this meeting was moved to January 4th because there were no other suitable locations for such an event within Rocksburgh Township at that time! During this time period there were only about 50 people living within Rangersburgh Township limits! This early growth can be credited with being led by local men such as Alexander Hamilton and John Beers who saw potential for development in their township but also realized that they needed help to get these projects off the ground so they could achieve success! In 1850s rocketry began appearing along both sides of Route 38 between here and Clifton NJ including some examples found still extant today (e.g., Peekskill Mountain). Some believe this activity may have been started by locals looking for an excuse to open up property around their homes since state taxes weren't then very high (they increased gradually starting around 1860). Possibly more importantly though based upon modern evidence discoveries dating back as far as 1958 have been made below Appledore Road near where present day Interstate 95 meets Route 9 southbound just past milepost 7½

Glen Rock was founded in 1788 by Father James McDermott. The town was originally called "Rockville." It was renamed to Glen Rock in 1876, after the nearbyrocky mountain. The name Glen Rock comes from a combination of the words "gleam" and rock. The town is located on the eastern edge of New Jersey and consists of a small number of businesses and homes. It has a population of about 10,000 people. Glen Rock is known for its manufacturing industry and its annual festival, the Glenn Rocks Festival, which is held in September. Glen Rock's history can be traced back to two key moments: the Battle of Glen Ross (1779) and the founding of Easton Township (1812). In 1779, British forces were able to drive French troops out of Pennsylvania while under British command. This led to hostilities between France and Great Britain over control of these resources. France responded with an attack on British forces at Fort George Clinton in what is now Delaware County. This fought resulted in three fatalities for both sides combined; however, British General Andrew Jackson defeated the French at this battle resulting in their withdrawal from Pennsylvania. In 1812, American forces invaded Canada during the War for Independence and captured Toronto as part of their victory over Canada’s Royal Army Corps besieging that city from July 8-August 15, 1812. Because Toronto lay within Canadan borders at that time (and because it had been captured without any fight), Lord Elgin decided that it should be named after him – Colonel John Elgin’s Regiment Armory acquired land adjacent to York Road near today’s intersection of Hwy 202/Glenn Park Rd., east side (northwest corner). At first they called it Queen’s Armory but soon realized how popular this name would become so they reverted back to Colonel John Elgin’s Regiment Armory until finally settling on Glen Rock when they took possession on November 12th following General Sir Edward Cornwallis' retreat from Yorktown Heights after his successful relief campaign against Washington D C
Glen Rock was founded in 1762 by Captain John Glenn. The community is home to the historically significant Glen Rock Naval Air Station, which is located on a peninsula in the center of town.
