Glen Rock, New Jersey is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 12,839 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-Cedar Hill-Bergen metropolitan area. The first European settlers in what would become Glen Rock arrived as indentured servants from England in 1685. They named their new settlement after their home country of Scotland, but it wasn't until 1764 that they actually had land grants from the Crown. Glen Rock's history begins with the founding of a small farmstead by James Stewart and his family on June 10, 1764. By 1800, there were twenty families living in what became Glen Rock Township and twelve businesses had been established within its boundaries by 1810. In 1819, the township was consolidated with those of Newark and Cedar Hill to form a new municipality called "Middlesex County". At this time, much of what now constitutes GlenRock Township lay outside its current borders due to open space requirements forNEWark's growth as an important commercial center during the early 19th century." In 1892–93 two brothers – John Prentice and Arthur Griggs – began developing a streetcar system between downtown Newark and other parts of Middlesex County. The first line ran along Route 9 east to Bound Brook; then north along Route 11 to Weequahic; finally south to Plainfield Junction where passengers boarded buses atbound for Hackensack or South Orange Township (now Edison). A second line connected these two lines together just south of town and served various industrial areas including grinding mills operated by Eunice Dickinson & Sons Paper Mill Company; foundries operated by Fritchey & Myers Iron Works; agricultural products handled by A J Laughlin’s flour company; shoe plants run by Wigglesworth Shoes Corporation Limited.; among others With rapid growth throughout the 20th century came increased housing demand which led to development around向野(Glenrock) arterial road off route 9A/N (now Hwy 6), today's Boulevard South Shopping Center shopping mall,,and later also into Ansaldo Avenue across from Borough Hall Park which remains one of township’s most intact neighborhoods today."

It was founded in 1764 by Scots-Irish immigrants from County Antrim as a place to raise horses for the British military. From its inception until it was annexed by Philadelphia in 1801, Glen Rock served as one of the five townships in Mercer County. In 1799, the Township of Glen Rock and the Borough of Easton were merged to form the newly formed township of Mercer. In 1801, however, Philadelphia refused to annex GlenRock because it felt that it would not have enough voting power to support itself without becoming part ofPhiladelphia. Glen Rock is located at (40.966667,-74.710294). According to the United States Census Bureau, the township has a total area of 9 acres (2 km²), all land. As of the census[10] of 2000,[11] there were 4,095 people residing in the township: 2,898 White (93% male and 94% female), 521 Black or African American (6%), 346 Native American (14%), 20 Asian Pacific Islander (3%), and 15 persons who identified themselves as Hispanic or Latino (10%).
