The name " Glen Rock" is derived from a place called Rocky Mountain House in what is now Mercer County and Upper Lebanon Township in this same county. The first permanent European settler in what would become Glen Rock was James Livingston who arrived in 1784. He founded a tavern on the lower Delaware River where the community now stands. In 1812, John Jepson acquired 640 acres of land east of present day Glen Rock and named it after his brother by marriage James Livingston II. The first store was opened here on October 15th, 1812 by John Jepson and brothers Amos and Solomon Decker. In 1838, Abraham Lincoln spent time at Meadowlands while campaigning for election to President against Andrew Jackson. Here he lodged with Daniel Webster on November 3rd and 4th at Turtle Pond Bed & Breakfast before continuing his campaign across Pennsylvania that evening to Scranton which he reached just before dawn on November 5th when he delivered his victory speech from Ford’s Theater near Harrisburg which gave him an appearance ahead of Jackson whom Lincoln lost by about 7 points nationally according to popular vote totals at that time The development around GlenRock began circa 1800 when two families started building homes southeast of present day Route 9A between 1800-1850 inclusive . By 1830 there were over 100 homes built along both sides of Rte 9A . A mill was built southwest of 9A between 1830-1840 providing flour for local grocery stores until 1862 when it became known as the “Glenrock Mills” due to its location upstream from present day Route 9A In 1860 men fraternal group periodical society “Daughters Benevolent Society Of America” chartered a schoolhouse at 6 W Broad street here for girls only attended by children living within 2 miles radius or those attending public schools which were available then without tuition fees During World War I this school served as auxiliary headquarters for Service Company #1 103rd Infantry Regiment Newark National Guard under command Major General George Patton Jr On May 12th 1918 Uniontown School No 1 located off Sandy Hook Road became primary target during shelling attack that killed 14 people including 8 pupils who were found buried beneath rubble following bombardment

Glen Rock is a small town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,711 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–South Orange-Trenton Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first settler in what is now Glen Rock was James Caldwell, who arrived in 1797 and built a cabin on the current site of Holy Cross Catholic Church. The Caldwell family continued to live there until 1827 when they moved away from the area because of religious objections to Catholics living near them. In 1839, John Gorman erected a log cabin on what is now Main Street. He also founded the Gorman Manufacturing Company which manufactured goods such as saddles and wagon parts. In 1847, George Wurtzel purchased land east of Main Street from John Gorman and built the First Methodist Episcopal Church there. That same year saw the opening of what is now Dairy Queen (now known as QFC). In 1865, Abraham Bicknell bought 640 acres (250 ha) of land south of present day Glen Rock from George Houtman for $10 per acre ($140 per km²). This tract would become one of central business districts in Morris County with businesses like Verizon Wireless and IBM located hereabouts. Bicknell named his new village after his friend General Andrew Jackson who had died in an accidental shooting while hunting near Albion in 1830. At that time most villages were named after either political leaders or geographical features nearby – for example Burlington or Mount Pleasant Township – but this was the first township in New Jersey to be named after someone other than its founder/headquarters (Albion). During World War II Glenn Rock produced fruits and vegetables for military troops stationed at bases throughout America; many door hangers were made here including those found at NASDAQ headquarters in Midtown Manhattan during that time period! In 1945 local farmers raised chickens for eggs as part ofOperation Crossroads which supported research into antibiotics then being developed by Monsanto Company north then right across Broadway St., NW corner today's Broadwalk Place Shopping Center! The Glen Rock School District was established on October 1, 1892. The first building was a one-room schoolhouse at the corner of Second and Clinton Streets in what is now Glen Rock. In 1915, the district’s first high school, East High School, opened on Pennsylvania Avenue in downtown Glen Rock. On September 28, 1926, the district’s second high school, West High School, opened on North Main Street in Gloucester Township. In 1945, the New Jersey Legislature passed a bill authorizing the creation of two more districts within the Glen Rock School District: South Central and North Cumberland. These districts were created on October 1, 1946 and January 1, 1947 respectively. On May 20th of each year since 1992 (except for 1990), Glen Rock Elementary students have had an opportunity to vote in a “Class Day” ceremony which celebrates their success as young adults during their K-8 years at that school. This tradition began with then Superintendent Driscoll who instituted it after seeing how much joy it brought to his students
