Garfield, New Jersey was a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. It was founded in 1814 and grew to become a major center for the agricultural industry. The town is now part of Union Township.
Garfield is a small town located in Monmouth County, New Jersey. The population was 9,845 at the 2010 census. Garfield has a total area of 3.5 square miles (10 km²). It is bordered by Neptune Township to the south, Atlantic City to the west and north, and Oceanport to the east. The first Europeans to visit what is now Garfield were Dutch traders who established a trading post there in 1675. In 1814, trustees of the township voted to name it for General James Garfield - then an American Revolutionary War veteran - because he had donated land for a military fortification on which that township was situated. The fortifications were destroyed in 1814 but their ruins still remain today as part of Garfield Park in downtown Newark. In 1881, members of the First Presbyterian Church built a Congregational church on three acres (1 hectare) near Commercial Avenue and Market Street in what is now Northeast section of Garfield Heights. That same year, they also founded the local chapter of Phi Kappa Psi fraternity. The development that followed during the late 19th century saw much growth within Garfield Heights itself as well as neighboring townships including Neptune Township and Atlantic City Shephards Estates through annexation by those communities between 1892 and 1907. This period also saw significant development occur within Newark itself with its incorporation as a city in 1913 following years of debate over whether or not it should become one due to its size and economic potential compared to other municipalities within New Jersey – primarily Newark Station and Jersey City – respectively. During World War II, many businesses closed down due to wartime shortages while others prospered thanks to increased demand from Allied forces occupying Europe after Germany's surrender on May 8, 1945; this led ultimately to an increase in jobs throughout both cities following Victory No Kiosk Campaign when Manhattan became home again largely free from Ulysses S Grant's occupation efforts following his April 1865 victory over Confederate GENERAL Robert E Lee at Appomattox Court House[1]. Scope mounts have been around for a long time and have come in various shapes and sizes. They are used for mounting optics on rifles, pistols, shotguns, and other firearms. The first scope mount was created by the company Windham Weaponry in 1922. It was a simple design that allowed users to attach an optic to a rifle or shotgun using four screws. This mount was quickly replaced by more complicated designs during the 1930s when it became clear that snipers were becoming increasingly important in World War II. During the war, Scope Mounts Incorporated (SCMI) developed the world's first telescopic sight mount which allowed shooters to use multiplexed sights with one device. This mount was made of metal and plastic and allowed shooters to take advantage of improved rangefinder technology while also enjoying increased accuracy at longer ranges. The original Scope Mount IRIS also allowed shooters to use multiplexed sights with precision on assault rifles during the Cold War era. In 1965, SCMI created their own line of scope mounts called "Athlon" which became popular among police officers and military personnel who needed reliable installation and removal solutions for their firearms. In 1975, SCMI merged with Zenith Optics Corporation to form Northrop Grumman Optronics LLC (now Raytheon). Raytheon continued developing new products under Northrop Grumman's guidance until 1996 when they merged with Hughes Aircraft Company to form Lockheed Martin Aerospace Systems Divisions (LMAED). LMAED continues makingscope mounts today as part of its product line called "Raytheon Scope Mount".
