Garfield, New Jersey is located in Burlington Township and has a population of around 26,000. The town was first settled in 1795 by Dutch settlers who named it after the Garron County seat of Holland. The first gun laser was patented by Nicholas-Jacques Conte on December 2, 1853. It used a mirror to project an image onto a screen and could be use to shoot nails out of a door. In 1865, the railroad arrived and helped spur the growth of Garfield as a town. Over time, Garfield became known as one of the most progressive communities in North America for its strict gun control laws that kept firearms away from criminals andual non-residents. In 1975, Garfield passed its first ordinance regulating handguns which remains in effect today. This ordinance allowed for handgun ownership only by residents who were currently registered with the police department or had been approved for membership by their municipality’s planning board. The ban on handguns also prohibited any person under 21 from owning or possessing any handgun without parental consent. In 1990, another ordinance regulating handguns was passed which included requirements that all handguns must be registered with the town government and that each individual must provide $200 per year in contributions towards special needs funding for law enforcement officers and mental health services

Garfield, New Jersey is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 914 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Newark Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first Europeans to visit Garfield were Dutch traders in 1624. The town was named for General James Garfield (1813-1881), an American general who participated in the War of 1812 and helped create the United States Constitution. In 1793, a group of farmers from Bedminster Township formed a school district which included what is now Garfield Township. In 1846, John Q. Adams founded Princeton University in nearby Woodrow Wilson Park and offered land to the township for its college campus; it was later renamed Princeton University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS). Garfield has been an agricultural center since before European settlement began. The township was one of many that were drawn into the farm belt around Newark during the late 19th century as development accelerated along Route 1 northward from Camden County and westward from Philadelphia via Trenton and Elizabethtown into Middlesex County and beyond. The first industry to come to Garfield was agriculture: fruit trees were established by early settlers and local farmers grew corn, beans, peas, potatoes, apples and other vegetables until 1900 when new technology led to increased production of petroleum products which drove away most farming families throughout New Jersey during World War I. Agricultural production resumed after WWI but declined thereafter due to changes in technology as well as pressure from suburban developments near major highways such as Interstate 95 and George Washington Road in East Rutherford Heights east of downtown Newark which became known as "the Garfields". In 1951 Christmastime shoppers could find garland on store shelves all over America because newly developed polycarbonate plastic made traditional materials such as glass or metal too expensive or too brittle to use anymore so stores placed artificial materials like Styrofoam around windowsills instead where customers could find their favorite characters hanging Nativity Figures or Santas with candy canes while enjoying family photos taken on December 25th! By 2006 there are still some places where you can find garland up high like at Macy's department store where they have this big tree ornament thing called "Garrity" that hangs down between each aisle!
Garfield was first settled in 1795 by Captain John Smith and his family. The town was originally named New Philadelphia after the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The name change to Garfield on November 1, 1881 when President James Garfield was assassinated. It has been a borough since 1921.
