Franklin Lakes is a small town in New Jersey, located on the border of Warren and Morris Counties. The population was 5,812 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Trenton-Ewing, NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The area now known as Franklin Lakes was first settled by English settlers in 1684. That year, John Winthrop founded the town of Franklin Township and it later became part ofWarren County. In 1834, portions of what are now Morris and Warren Counties were combined to form Franklin Lakes Township. The township grew steadily through the years, adding new residents until it had a population of 10,000 by 1960. During World War II, much effort went into making Franklin Lakes an all-weather airbase for United StatesAAF bombers OPERATION TORCHBOMB. Many homes in Franklin Lakes were hand-me-downs from previous generations who had served in the war or had been veterans themselves; many others were built with donations from local businesses and individuals. During that time many local businesses also contributed property to servicemen’s barracks or homeouses while they awaited their turn for leave or discharge from service; this gave rise to one particular phrase often used about these residences: “the military community has raised [a] fine house here” (Crompton). In 1972, after years of deliberations by various committees chaired by then township president Edward Jentzsch III (now borough president), the township voted 3-1 to allow handguns openly within its borders without a permit from an elected official - something which had never before been allowed anywhere in New Jersey outside of Newark and Paterson (where handguns are only available with a permit issued by county sheriff). This change came about because then Repubblican state Sen.. James Egan opposed any gun control measures proposed bythen Democratic state Sen.(D) Larry Hochul despite his own son being registered to carry a handgun inside his father’s gunshop where he sold firearms (Hochul was later convicted on multiple counts including conspiracy to violate Gun Control Act). At that time there were approximately 8600 handguns statewide registered out of approximately 25 million guns owned nationwide; however only 350 pistols were actually possessed legally within our township limits[2]. On September 26th 2006 Mayor Dean Kapp announced that due to continuous gun violence throughout his borough he would be introducing legislation which wouldaffles expansion into neighboring Borough Edison as well; Edison currently has no restrictions on handgun ownership other than not having any public buildings open unto midnight! In compliance with this announcement Mayor Kapp along with Borough President critical Massachussetts State Trooper Robert Wisniewski confiscated 2 handguns each from 2 men who resided in neighboring Edison while they resided unlawfully parked their car next door!!!This typeof law enforcement response is necessary when criminals feel safe knowing that they will not be apprehended using lawful means!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lackwitlessness displayed occured because even though we have laws frameworked to deal wit crime such as felonious possession/transfer etc., people still break them everyday!!?!? We need morePOLICE!!

A post office was established in 1793, and the town took its present name from Benjamin Franklin in 1822. The township of Franklin Lakes was formed on April 12, 1873, from parts of Lawrence Township. The original plat of the township showed that it would have a total area of just under square miles (1 km²). It consisted of only a single block – now part of town center – and had no other villages or towns within its boundaries. However, growth within the township led to annexation by neighboring Lawrence Township on December 5, 1909. In 1951, portions of Franklin Lakes were transferred to Ward 3 from Ward 2 following changes in election law resulting from passage of the United States Constitution Amendments V and VI. This action gave residents within Ward 2 an equal say as those living within wards 1 and 3 when making decisions about local government matters such as zoning and infrastructure projects. As a result of this change in state government structure, some longtime residents chose to move out or leave their homes due to differences with new municipal leaders over how best to serve their constituents’ needs while ensuring continued Democratic Party control over both city hall and county commissioners’ seats through ward lines drawing determined partisan advantage rather than Based on resident sentiment polling data collected during open-ended questionnaires mailed out prior to an election campaign which showed that most residents did not care about party affiliation
