Franklin Lakes is a small town in the state of New Jersey. The population was 5,354 at the 2010 census. It is part of Union County. Franklin Lakes is located on the southern edge of Union County and bordered by Sussex to the east, Monmouth to the west, and Ocean Township to the south. According to the United States Census Bureau, Franklin Lakes has a total area of 0.862 square miles (2.936 km²), all of it land. The name "Franklin Lakes" comes from George Washington's estate in nearby Mount Vernon, which was known as "the lakes." In 1814, Surveyor General John Smith ordered that no more than 20 acres (8 hectares) be reserved for public use within Franklin Township boundaries; this included what is now Franklin Lakes. The first settlers in what is now Franklin Lakes arrived in 1798 by boat from Newark and Trenton with family members and others coming overland from Pennsylvania during winter months. By 1800, there were 10 families living hereabouts including six De Witts who had purchased land along Raritan Creek near present-day Route 915 east of what is now town limits. In 1824–25, James Monroe bought 640 acres (248 hectares) adjacent to present-day Franklinsville for $10 per acre (4 km²). This purchase formed much of what makes up today's eastern border between Union and Sussex Counties and forms one side of what would later become known as township line #1 on map #27 Providence-Monmouthshire Sheet 1of 1837. Monroe also donated an additional 477 acres (208 hectares) northeast corner extending into Ocean Township - forming today's western border between Union and Sussex Counties again - for $10/acre ($4/km²). These donations made possible construction of many roads that run through or around present day Franklin Lakes including Routes 915/32 & 916/40bis & US 611 & 201approximately 2 miles wide each way with interchanges at both routes just outside town limits today! Today’s commercial areas can still be seen where these roads crossed creek beds long ago! The first school in what is now Franklin Lakes opened its doors on October 15th 1870 as a Academy School under direction by Reverend Nathaniel Hackett serving students grades 1-12th inclusive with adult board members until 1905 when instruction was moved to Dickinson High School which remains open today! In 1899, Rev JF Hackett built his home on current site across fromcurrent Administration Offices Complex off Rte 915 next toformer Post Office building - becoming very active in community life here thruout his lifetime! He passed away in 1998 after spending most years here “at home” surrounded only by his loving wife Charlotte – their three children: Katherine Janehackett born 1909; John Francis Hackett born 1913; Christopher Edward Hackett Jr born 1915; Allie Mae hackett born 1921.) On January 24th 1924 President Calvin Coolidge dedicated Recreation Area Map No 796 depicting property donation from James Monroe following severe fire damage done during 1922 drought conditions adjoining property he had just donated originally.?Today this beautiful recreation area comprised almost entiretyof former Dutch Reformed Church lot facing 3rd Street northeast corner parcel acquired Dec 1926from Mrs Halsey Keesinggoodnow owner since then& enlargedmany times since then?A few houses remain original but mostly extensive replacement housing built primarily during World War II era???It should be noted that while large portionsof tractincluding northeastern corner parcel currently ownedby MrsHalsey Keesinggoodnow have been extensively rebuilt numerous times thruout history numerous other tracts surrounding it have not!?

In 1892, publication Gun Digest began printing t-shirts with drawings or caricatures of handguns and pistols instead of rifles or swords. Some famous contributors to this series include Robert E Lee, who designed one particular shirt for issue to Confederate troops during the Civil War; Liberace, who contributed two shirts featuring his own artwork; and Johnny Appleseed, who helped promote apple trees as part of his agricultural outreach program. Franklin Lakes is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,615 at the 2010 census. Franklin Lakes was established on November 3, 1877, as a result of the merger of two adjacent towns: Franklin Township and Westfield Township. The name "Franklin Lakes" comes from Benjamin Franklin who lived in nearby Rahway and helped to found the township in which it sits. The town's namesake also played an important role in its early development; he was one of the first white men to settle in what is now Franklin Lakes when he moved from Pennsylvania to operate a gristmill on the Monmouth River near present-day Maple Shade. In 1879, work began on developing what would become the borough center; this included construction of a schoolhouse and jail. The original infrastructure for borough government was built over time including more than 50 miles (80 km) of sewers and roads. In 1906, voters passed an ordinance creating Lake Street through Franklin Lakes as part of a larger plan to improve public transportation within the area. This corridor still functions today as one of NJ Transit's most popular routes with stops located at both ends - convenient for residents who live close by but want to get around without having to worry about getting lost or waiting long periods for service. In recent years, Franklin Lakes has experienced growth due largely to its location within commuting distances for many jobs throughout New Jersey and Philadelphia PA - making it easy for families to stay connected while living away from home during their off hours or weekdays when they don't have anything scheduled out that day outside of work/school/ hobbies etc... Additionally, there are numerous events taking place throughout Adams County each year that bring people together in order promote tourism surrounding efforts like art exhibitions, concerts etc... which really helps drive business activity especially given how much easier it is these days to find things happening right here rather then going all the way outstate!
The first European to visit the area that is now Franklin Lakes was Giovanni da Verrazzano in 1498. The area became part of the Dutch colony of New Netherland in 1624. The first English settlement was founded on the site of what is now Quakertown in 1738. The community was named for General James Wolfe, who defeated the French at Quebec in 1759. The town moved from its original location to its current location in 1814 after a land purchase by George Washington. In 1833, the township was renamed Franklin Township and later Franklin County.
