The history of magazines in Fort Lee, New Jersey begins with the arrival of the first Americans to the area in 1795. The fort was established at what is now known as Point Breeze on Long Island and was used as a military post during the Revolutionary War. Lee for new homes across town or elsewhere in New Jersey. However, some continued to live in Fort Lee and use its Magazine building as their base of operations. One such soldier was Colonel James Alloway who ran an artillery armory here from 1834-1836. alloway's armory remained active until 1922 when it burned down due to a fire caused by faulty wiring in an electric power plant next door. Since then, no major renovations have been done to either structure; they remain largely unchanged since their days as gun magazines

The Americans renamed the fort "Lee" after Major General James Ewing's brigade had occupied it on September 25 that year. The city of Elizabeth was founded nearby in 1821 and quickly grew into an important commercial center due to its location on the river between New York City and Philadelphia. However, as trade declined during both world wars, Elizabeth became a sleepy backwater until developers began building high-rise apartments and office buildings aroundFort Lee in the 1960s and 1970s. During World War II there was also an air force base here which played an important role in strategic bombing raids against Nazi Germany from 1943 to 1945; many planes were actually built here including those used for Operation Overlord (the Normandy landings). After World War II ended, most of the Army's active military units disbanded or moved out of NJ; however FtLee continued to serve as a depot for supplies for local units until 1988 when all operations were transferred to Lackland Air Force Base (Kirtland AFB) near Austin TXgateway Airport! Today FtLee still has some garrison functions but no combat activity taking place! Despite this lack of activity FtLee still has quite some historical significance because it served as homeport for several Hudson Valley Naval Air Reserve Units during WW2!

Fort Lee was a strategic stop on the Continental Army's march to Philadelphia in 1776. In 1701, Lieutenant Colonel James Butler founded Horse Guards Regiment at Kingston upon Hudson as part of an effort to increase royal support for the war with France. On November 15, 1701, Butler's regiment attacked a French privateer off Long Island while under cover of darkness; they succeeded in capturing her entire cargo including cannons and food supplies that would have been used by the French army besieging Long Island City. After this victory Butler's unit became known as "The Irish Brigade." On March 14, 1702 Lieutenant Colonel John Burgoyne landed his forces at Staten Island without orders from London; he proceeded immediately to buildFort Lee along with nearby Fort William Henry (now Mount Vernon) because he thought that British troops could not be adequately supplied moving upriver across open country into Pennsylvania without passing through New York City again.
