Florham Park was founded in 1834 by English settlers from Northumberland and Durham, England. The town's name comes from the Dutch word "florrie" meaning "a flower." The first European settler in Florham Park was John Smith who arrived in 1834. James Auchincloss to promote rural development within the state of New Jersey through research into agroindustrial practices including growing crops on virgin soils without chemical inputs or pesticide use; this helped lay the foundation for future NJ agricultural programs such as Rutgers University's Brown University Farm program which began operation that same year In 1938 Borough President Harry Smeaton created what is now known as Parkside Drive - an open-air park located adjacent to present day Maplewood Avenue - as part of a plan to improve access to public parks throughout Essex County while also creating opportunities for outdoor recreation The drive served as one mile (1 kilometer) long paralleling Maplewood Avenue until its reversion back to borough control following World War II . Between 1951-1964 Florham Park annexed portions of neighboring municipalities South Orange and Hackensack which formed River Edge Township . In 1978 Borough President Leonard Wood ordered segregationist gerrymanders be drawn for all seven townships within River Edge Township , resulting inFlorHAM PARK being split among five new municipalities: north east – Rahway;south – Paramus;west – Edison; central – Hackensack ; eastern – Middletown This decision made local elections there instead of through individual voting districts which would have happened if residents had chosen not to join these new municipalities pursuant To this decision all 7 former Boroughs within River Edge Township were merged into one municipality effective January 1st 1979 under Mayor Joseph Nieves with responsibility for all aspects related thereto including municipal services , zoning regulations & building permits etc

Florham Park is a borough in New Jersey, located on the north bank of the Hackensack River. As of 2010, it had a population of 24,989. The town was founded in 1834 by John Bull and his family. It became a borough within Florham Park Township on February 22, 2009. The first settler in Florham Park was John Bull who arrived in 1834. He and his family were among the first to live in what is now known as Florham Park Township. In 1837, he and his wife Margaret built a home on what is now Second Avenue and Railroad Street. They also purchased land east of present-day First Avenue for their farm which they named "Bull's Run". In 1840, John Mifflin came to Florham Park from Newark and started a grocery store at Fourth and Market Streets. He would later become president of the Borough Council and serve until his death in 1901. In 1857, George Washington Smith moved to Florham Park from Morristown with his family; he opened the first post office there (called "Smith's Store" after him). He farmed between Third and Fourth Avenues until 1862 when he bought land along Third Avenue for development into what is today called "FlorHAMPark". He was one of the original developers of Elmhurst Village which developed around that time across from Three Bridges Road on what are now North Boulevard (formerly South Boulevard) and West Highway (formerly East Highway). In 1865, Baptist preacher Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney moved to FlorHAMPark from Manchester with her husband Cyrus Vance Jr., where she established her famous candy company; it remains one of New Jersey's most celebrated businesses to this day. Her husband served as Mayor from 1969-1975 before becoming United States Ambassador to Japan under President Ronald Reagan during those years. Avenue K followed suit soon after Mrs. Whitney's death in 1984 at age 92 years old - making it one of NJ's longest continuously operating retail corridors ever! Florham Park is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The population was 20,874 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from "Forum" in Latin and means "place where we meet." The first settler in Florham Park was Nicholas Applegate, who arrived there on November 17, 1686. He and his family were among the early settlers of what would become Middlesex County. In 1835, John Pemberton purchased land in Florham Park from the British Crown for $2 million. This property included a number of plantations that still produce crops to this day: Lighthouse Plantation (now part of Princeton), Indian Hills plantation (now part of Lindenwood University), and White Sands plantation (now part of Monmouth University). In 1836, Pemberton's son-in-law, Anthony Mannan bought another large piece of land east of Florham Park from the British Crown for $4 million. Mannan renamed it Arlington Heights after Arlington County in Virginia where he had been born and raised. During World War II, much of Florham Park was bombed by the United States Air Force as part of Operation Crossroads which targeted German military installations across Europe.
