Florham Park is a small town in New Jersey. It was founded in 1868 by John Florham and his family. The Florham Park area includes the towns of South Hackensack, North Hackensack, and Haddonfield. The town's population was 24,711 during the 2010 census. The name "Florham Park" comes from two sources: one from English settlers who named their new land after the ancient village of Florsheim in Germany, and another derived from the Latin word for "flower." John Florham arrived in America about 1620 as one of the first Europeans to settle what is now New Jersey. In 1868, he purchased 3 square miles (8 km2) of land on Long Island Sound east of Newark from several Dutch families. He named it Florham Park after his home village in Germany where he had been born some years earlier. In 1870, John FlorHAM married Caroline Kapp; they had six children: Caroline (1871-1957), John A., James W., Linda M., Nicholas W., and Douglas J.; and four grandchildren: Douglas F., Christy L., Hassid Zalman, and Sarah Jane Kapp-Ferguson. John A.'s death at age 54 while working on a farm near Plainfield led to James W.'s takeover of that farm beginning in 1902 until 1914 when James W.'s son Douglas J took over permanently. At age 78, Douglas J passed away suddenly at home on October 15th, 1957 – just three weeks shy of his 89th birthday – leaving behind a widow Esther and five children: Douglas Jr., Cynthia Gertrude (b 1910-1996), Irving Dregel (b 1922-1998), Elaine Lillian (b 1927-2002), Leonard David (b 1930-2004). He was buried next to his father at Holy Cross Cemetery following services on October 17th which were attended by many local residents including Esther’s brother Judge Augustus Midler…the elder Midler would later serve as Chief Justice of New Jersey from 1951 to 1959 under Governor Arnulf Rommelberry II

Florham Park is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 362 at the 2010 census. The area that now makes up Florham Park was first settled by English settlers in 1702 as part of the Parish of Morristown. In 1764, the township was formed from portions of Middlesex Township and was named for Colonel John Florham, a British officer who fought in the French and Indian War. The township boundaries changed hands several times until 1834 when it became part of what is today Union County. In 1855, Florham Park acquired land east of Hamilton Avenue on Long Island Sound to form what is now known as Westfield Township. In 1867, Florham Park annexed the adjacent boroughs of East Brunswick and Glassboro to make a new municipality. On November 3, 1870, with the creation of Union County, FlorHAM PARK become an official county seat.

The first settlement in what is now Florham Park was made on October 17, 1814 by John Armstrong and his family from Scotland as part of the Morristown resettlement project. On November 10, 1821, Florham Park was incorporated as a borough by an act of the New Jersey Legislature. The name for the town originated with Colonel Augustus Fenton who had been given land in present-day Florham Park to build a farm there after purchasing it from Governor George Washington Cable. For most of its early history, FlorHAM PARK was farmland and until recently only used for local agricultural purposes such as raising chickens and Pigs; no manufacturing took place here until after World War II when large factories were built nearby like RCA/NBC's Trenton studios and General Electric's Edison plant which produced transformer equipment and lightbulbs among other products. In recent decades some small businesses have closed down but many others continue to do business including clothing stores (including Zara), furniture stores (like Home Goods), convenience stores (Pepsi Maxx), beauty salons (Loreal) and more - making this one of the most active Boroughs in Morris County! As you drive around town you will see many reminders of how things used to be: Farms still dotting the landscape; several antique shops open late into the night; Boardwalk bars that serve up traditional American drinks like bourbon and scotch; live music nights at various venues all year round...It really feels like old times!
