Florham Park is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 23,865 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Florham Park" comes from the Dutch word "Frischamp", meaning "fresh meadow". The first settler in what would become Florham Park was John Hezekiah Holland in 1764. Florham Park was incorporated as a borough on February 14, 1834 and became an independent city on July 1, 1909. The borough was renamed to Florham Park on December 6, 1916 in honor of First Lady Helen FIorina D'Ambrosio who had been born in Italy and raised in FlorHAM PARK (now known as Englewood). Mrs. D'Ambrosio's father had come to America as a young man and established himself in New York City before coming to South Jersey where he built a textile business which eventually merged with two others to form J&R Nabisco company that still exists today. Mrs. D'Ambrosio served as Mayor of FlorHAM PARK from 1951 until her death on October 14th, 1978; she is also buried beside her husband at Woodlawn Cemetery there. In 1987 the Borough erected a statue of Mrs. D’ Ambrosio opposite Her Majesty's Theatre on Broad Street - now home to Stroud University - as part of rename effort for Borough hall during Post-World War II era when Philadelphia experienced rapid growth and many buildings were abandoned or taken over by private owners whose attention span did not extend into changes within their community infrastructure which resulted in economic decline over time... In recent years some residents have voiced opposition to plans by developers for large apartment complexes adjacent to Station Square shopping center along I-95W near Bound Brook Avenue; these developments are opposed because they would impact natural resources such as wetlands used for agricultural purposes and provide limited public amenities such as playgrounds or tennis courts for local children while also providing no affordable housing options for those who live near them thereby displacement of low income residents living close by...

Florham Park is a borough in New Jersey, United States. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 27,711. It is located in Bergen County and includes the neighborhoods of Florham Park West, Florham Park North, and Parsippany Heights. The borough was formed on October 15, 1874 from portions of Hackensack Township. The first European settlers in what would become Florham Park were Dutch colonists who arrived in 1624. They named their new settlement "Hartenhage" after a nearby farmstead that they had seen while travelling through the area. In 1714, English colonists settled at Fort Monmouth (now called Jamesburg) and began trading with the Dutch. The first British settler in what would become Florham Park was Nicholas Hanscom who arrived on May 2, 1718 from Newark-on-the- Hudson as part of an effort to open up New Netherland to English traders. He founded a tavern called the Hermitage near where he now lives on Ridgewood Avenue today. In 1817, parts of Hackensack Township were annexed by New York City as part of the Second Allegany County Annexation which created Bergen County. On October 15, 1874, FlorHAM PARK was formally established when it became a Borough within Bergen County under Governor George Smeaton’s Department of Internal Affairs act following passage by Congress of an act entitled “An Act to provide for organization and government of certain townships within this State” After years of struggle between sectionsal interests within both Republican and Democratic Party organizations local officials finally reached an agreement on November 25th 1865 putting FlorHAM PARK into effect as its own independent municipality consisting entirelyof white citizens only with black residents having been admitted since 1870 when fully integrated public education services began in that township . This arrangement continued until 1973 when all sectional interests were transcended and incorporation became automatic once both municipalities met certain property requirements

In 1777, Florham Park was founded by Colonel John Campbell of New York. The area now includes parts of Middlesex and Union counties, as well as the towns of Plainsboro and East Brunswick. It was part of Perth Amboy Township until 1837 when it became part of Morris County. The first post office in Florham Park was established in 1778. In 1811, a public school was established in the town. It closed in 1892-93 due to financial difficulties. Florham Park is named for General George Washington who spent much time there during his life. He vacationed here twice and his grandson, James K. Polk visited Florham Park in 1863 while he served as President of the United States
