The history of shooting protection in Fairview, NJ begins with the early days of firearms. The area that is now Fairview was originally part of Middlesex County and was populated by Native Americans. As time passed, settlers began to arrive in this region and began to bring their own firearms with them. One of the earliest colonists to arrive in FairVIEW was Peter Coffin, who settled in what is today Fairview Township on December 16th, 1764. At this time there were no gun laws in place and it was not until 1818 that a law was passed regulating the sale and use of guns within Middlesex County. In 1835, a school teacher named John Brougham purchased land in what is today Fairview Township from the family of Nicholas Greenough. He set up a school on his property and started teaching children about how to handle firearms. This activity led to the development of handgun safety policies within Middlesex County government which remain in effect to this day. In 1846, New Jersey Governor Andrew Johnson signed a bill authorizing the registration of handguns within the state. This law made it illegal for anyone without a license to possess or sell handguns without first obtaining an individual registration card from the county sheriff’s office. It also required manufacturers/dealers/manufacturers’ agents (NICS) to provide retailers with information concerning each customer’s ownership status as well as any criminal history information contained on these individuals’ records. As handgun registration became more common throughout New Jersey,Fairview gradually became one of its most popular tourist destinations due to its wide variety of firearm-related items available for purchase including pistols, shotguns, rifles, ammunition and more! Gun Shows were often held at local businesses such as Brougham’s School during summer months while rifle shows took place at various ranges across town during winter months (which still happens today!). pistol shows would typically have around 25-30 exhibitors while rifle show attendance can range anywhere from 10-15 exhibitors! With all these events taking place annually throughout our township*, it's easyto see why Pistol Protection Officer programs flourished here during those early years! *However*, things changed dramatically after 1976 when handgun regulation within Middlesex County shifted from open Carry2 into statewide regulation under then Gov't Attorney General Edward Brooke*. From then on until present day there has been intense debate over whether or not PPO should continue operations given recent changes legislatively* (*Note: There have been several attempts by PPO organizations throughout NJ to resurrect certain aspects or functions associated with PPO programming however none have been successful).

Fairview is a township located in Camden County, New Jersey. As of the 2010 Census, the population was 18,749. The name Fairview was given to the town by Robert Fairbanks in 1848. The first post office opened in 1851. In 1881, parts of the township were annexed into Camden Township and again in 1912. The township is home to two high schools: James Madison High School and Wexford Collegiate Institute. There are also three elementary schools: First Baptist Church Elementary School, Holy Ghost Catholic Parish Elementary School, and Sacred Heart Roman Catholic Primary School. As of the 2000 United States Census there were 15,679 people residing in Fairview Borough ( containing both Fairview Township and portions of Camden Township), making it an all-white municipality with a percentage of 100%. However starting from 2004-2006 only 12% or 7593 out of 17oka residents living within borough boundaries reported being black or african american while over 79% white residents did so…..

Fairview is a small town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,883 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark–Newark Metropolitan Statistical Area. Fairview started as a small settlement on the east side of Raritan Bay in 1789. It developed into a large town by 1825 and became an important market center for southeastern Middlesex County. In 1851, Fairview became the county seat of Middlesex County and remained so until 1889 when Camden took over that role. A post office called FairVIEW was established in 1789, and remained in operation until 1865. The first settler to arrive in what is now FairVIEW was Nicholas Roerich who arrived on October 25, 1789 with his family from Ratisbon, Bavaria, Germany via ship "Nemo". The township initially included all of what is now southwestern Middlesex County except for portions of Hackensack and Caldwell counties which were added to Sussex County during the early 19th century. On November 3rd, 1825 (President James K. Polk's inauguration day), Township voters passed an ordinance incorporating their new town based on land grants they had received from President John Adams following the Adams-Kendrick Treaty of 1824. In 1851, due to changes in state government caused by the American Civil War (the war led to Rutgers University moving from Newark to Camden), FairVIEW became county seat with Sussex taking over that role; however, it reverted back to township status by 1912. The Borough of Caldwell replaced it as county seat after that date; however it reverted back again to township status by 1933 following its annexation by Caldwell boroughs which merged into Bergen Township during those years).
The first European settlers in the area that is now Fairview were Dutch farmers. The Dutch name for the area was "Breda-Fair Lawn". In 1664, Englishman George Carteret and his brother, Lord Carteret, landed on Long Island in New York and founded a trading post called Fort Nassau. The two men also explored what is now Jersey City. In 1668, they renamed their new colony after themselves, New Netherland. In 1702, the British Crown granted land to Nicholas Vailes as part of the Treaty of Utrecht which ended the War of Independence between Great Britain and France. This land included what is now Fairview Township. In 1795, John Fenton purchased 1/2 mile of township from Nicholas Vailes for £10 horse fees and laid out a town square with a fountain in center frontage on both avenues leading to it. He named it Fairview Township after himself. Fenton'stownsquareremaineduntouched until 1827 when developer John Duryea built an eighty-four foot high water tower at the intersection of Belle theory Road and Maple Avenue to provide water for his farm animals and other businesses in the township square
