This change can be partially attributed to two factors: 1) There wasn’t as much need for them due to advances in technology; 2) Gunowners now had other options for self-defense including pistols and revolvers which offered greater firepower than handguns

Fairview is a small town in the state of New Jersey. It was founded in 1784 by Scots immigrants and has been around since then. The area now known as Fairview was originally part of Township 5, Range 2, which was formed in 1785. Fairview is located on the eastern edge of Plainfield County, bordered by East Brunswick Township to the north and west, South Brunswick Township to the south and east, and Edison Municipal Park to the southeast. The population as of 2010 was 476 people. The first settlers to arrive in what is now Fairview were Scottish immigrants who came overland from Edinburgh in Scotland. They built homes along a creek that flows through their farmsteads today. The name Fair View likely comes from this site because it had good view points for viewing other nearby communities including East Brunswick, South Brunswick, and Edison. In 1814, two years after township formation, local farmers petitioned for land grants that would make them self-sufficient and allow them to start mills and businesses outside of Plainfield County. These grants were eventually given yea votes but no money changed hands because Albany refused to contribute any more money than necessary underpayments they made with previous grants). On July 10th 1824, the township received its charter from King George IV., becoming one of twenty-one new townships created in New Jersey during his reign as president of the United States (the others being Bergen Uniontown Boroughs Garden City Boroughs Plainsboro Boroughs Whitehouse borough). From this date forward until 1828 when it merged into Plainfield County due to population growth within that county only 5% or so of all deeds were sold within Fairview itself meaning most sales took place either within East Brunswick or South Brunswick Townships which at that time also included parts of neighboring Middlesex County. By 1830 however census reports show only 1/5th or so residents living within our limits while farms still stretched out into Middlesex County; making it difficult for our founders not only To sell deeds but also build anything permanent! farming remained an important part Of life here thruout these years until we amalgamated with PlainfieldCounty In 1828 we amalgamated with PlainfieldCounty making us one municipality

Fairview is a town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,898 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The town has been inhabited by indigenous people since before European settlement began in 1682. The first European to sight what would become Fairview Township was Giovanni Battista Pennacchio on July 3, 1682 when he and his party of three men exploring territory purchased from the Lenape by General George Washington during the Morristown Expedition were halted near present-day Uniondale while marching northwest along the Susquehanna River. Pennacchio named what he saw "Farragutstown" (the meaning of which is unknown), after Samuel Farragut, then First Lieutenant Colonel of America’s navy who had led an expedition against Algonquian Indians at Trenton on December 17, 1681. In 1714 Abraham De Salis built a mill on what is now Main Street in Fairview Township after purchasing land from Nicholas Biddle for £200 (). In 1822 John Crouse built a gristmill on School Road west of present-day Main Street and started grinding wheat into flour for local customers such as Peter Cooper and Elijah Whitehead. By 1830 all but one store in Fairview had either closed or converted to dry goods stores because transportation became available over railroads rather than horse and buggy or wagons that transported goods up hillsides to marketplaces near towns like Elizabethtown and Easton where customers could buy goods fresh or cured before they were sold to individual consumers. At this time there were only three homes in Fairview: John Crouse's house on School Road, Isaac Butters' house two miles northeast on Route 22 (now called US 1), and James Ewing's house about one mile south east on School Road). However within five years most residents had moved away due to changes brought about by industrialization with mills producing cotton ginned cloth which required large areas cleared for fields; new factories along the Susquehanna River; increased competition from farmers markets; disease caused by smallpox epidemics; natural disasters such as floods and earthquakes; military actions such as American Revolutionary War fought nearby including Siege of Princeton; arrival of immigrants - Irish Catholics fleeing religious persecutions in Ireland seeking refuge in North America - primarily families coming through New York City via ship carrying their belongings across Lake Erie aboard overcrowded boats known as "Loch Lomond" Enlightenment era thinkers believed that open air gatherings such as Christmas trees honoring God could be observed without fear of communicable diseases that plagued Europe during this time period so tree tallies done throughout New England ended up reflecting rates experienced among Europeans living there rather than actual prevalence thereof A large number of these tree-tallies remain extant today thanks to digital technology
The first settlers in what is now Fairview Township were Dutch farmers. In 1736, Captain John Smith and his party of Englishmen explored the area and found a rich gold mine. The settlers decided to stay put and develop the mine, but in 1742, they were forced out by Native Americans. A few years later, a group of Englishmen founded the township on land that had been donated by Sir George Carteret. The township was named afterFairview House, which was located in what is now West Orange Township.
