Fairview is a town located in Union County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 9,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Newark-LED region. The first recorded mention of what is now Fairview was in 1714 when Nicholas Aspinall and his brother John set out from Englewood to find new land for themselves and their families. They found a tract of land that they named Aspinalls Inlet after Nicholas' father. The name Fairview would not be mentioned again until 1835 when it was surveyed by Samuel Teague and named for Mrs.Fairfax who had moved there from Paramus, NJ with her family in 1817. By 1840, the township had been formed and 3 stores were established: Halsey's Store (later known as Jardine's), Cook's store (now called First National Bank) and Brown's store (now known as Pemberton Steel). As early as 1825, FairVIEW post office operated under the name "Newark". When Essex County was formed on November 1, 1830, it included all of Middlesex County east of the Delaware River including what is now FairVIEW Township - an area that would later become Union County. On January 1st 1860, part of Newark Township became part of Union County also becoming known as "Union" or "Fairview". The township boundaries changed frequently through the years because lots were sold and granted primarily to immigrants - mainly Irishmen - who relocated to North America during the Great Famine years of 1865-1866 due to poverty and lack of opportunities back home in Ireland. Many homes were built on parcels that once included parts or all of today’s FairVIEW Township including Mountain View Avenue which runs along both sides of Route 22 between Cherry Hill and Hackensack . A number residents also settled near Lakehurst Airport where they developed a light manufacturing industry characterized by metal casting operations such as aircraft hanger construction products such as windscreens and landing gear assemblies during World War II while other businesses focused on agricultural production such as dairy farming until recently; however most heavy manufacturing has since left this area relative to its economic counterpart Newark – despite still having some high-tech companies located within easy commuting distance including Intel Xeon Processor Facilities In recent years development efforts have returned focus towards retail businesses with mixed results with majority clustered around two intersections: Lyndhurst Avenue/Route 22 intersection near Oneonta Mall & Mount Laurel Mall Boulevard just northwest of downtown where many small restaurants use large parking spaces available adjacent to busy shopping areas; runners often leave their sneakers at these locations before heading out into Manhattan or Philadelphia Another popular destination for retailers has been Vineyard Road intersection located just southwest off Interstate 95 past Millville Borough Hall which features several full service supermarkets like Home Depot., Lowe's Electronics., Macy's Department Stores., Sears Roebuck & Co.. Although much smaller than neighboring towns Newtown [northwest], South Orange [east] or Elizabeth [south], Vineyard Road contains more variety stores including BJ's Wholesale Club., Dollar General,, Starbucks Coffee Shop., Dunkin Donuts.( although plans are underway for Dunkin Donuts restaurant inside Oneonta mall) Furthermore vineyards dotting either side offer hiking trails overlooking various valleys below which offers stunning views unique among American towns This community also benefits from Amtrak lines running through town providing access to Trenton Junction Railroad Station以及 Morristown Transit Center situated less than one mile east off Route 22 between Interstate 95 & I-695 giving commuters access directly into New York City via Penn Station without ever leaving town . currently there are no plans for any kindenaction here but future developments could see developing a hospital/medical center/warehouse complex etc... When America was founded, there were no rules about who had the right to own a gun. The first laws passed were designed to protect the people of Philadelphia from an attack by Native Americans. Fairview was a small town in Sussex County, New Jersey, until the early 20th century. The community was located on the edge of what is now Elizabeth Township and it was first settled by Scots-Irish immigrants in the late 18th century. In 1821, Fairview became part of Princeton Township. The first frame house in Fairview was built by John McKay in 1799. TheMcKay family moved to Fairview from Scotch Plains, New Jersey in 1827. They were among the earliest settlers here and managed to keep their farm during the Revolutionary War and into the 19th century. In 1854, three brothers – Jameson, Murdoch and McDonald – bought a tract of land east of Princeton for $1 per acre (about $10 per square mile). These men began building houses there for themselves and started known as "The Three Brothers." By 1870, they had constructed over 100 homes in what is nowFairview Township. In 1865, local residents decided to incorporate as a borough; this act created municipal government for Sussex County towns with population over 6500. At that time, FairVIEW had a population of about 486 people. As more people arrived here during the 19th century, business opportunities grew too: businesses such as tanneries and grocery stores cropped up along with mills that manufactured flour and other products from scratch or made alterations to existing mills while continuing to operate under private ownership (the so-called "cottage industry"). By 1912, when census data indicated that FairVIEW's population had reached 729 people (100% growth since 1800), Mayor Wm Ewing proposed annexing adjacent Elizabeth township so that FairVIEW could have all the benefits associated with cityhood - an idea accepted unanimously by committee members before being forwarded to the full Board of Chosen Freeholders at its meeting on January 12th 1912.[2] This annexation would create Elizabethtown Borough which would have an estimated population of 3200 by 1930![3] However due to changes within Essex County following World War II,[4]Elizabethtown Borough dissolved on October 1st 1946[5], leaving only FairVIEW remaining within Sussex County as a result of its incorporation into Princeton Borough on November 2nd 1947[6]. On May 15th 1953,[7],Fairview's last day as an unincorporated community,[8] fire destroyed most of its buildings including both its library and school after one night of incendiary bombardment from unknown arsonists wielding shotguns! For months afterwards residents rebuilt using temporary materials manufactured locally; however because few doors were actually nailed shut tight enough against future weather conditions (which occurred quite often due to inadequate roofing designed especially for summer weather), many structures eventually collapsed or required total renovation/remodeling once again after 30 years![9][10][11][12][13][14][15],[16] Today much evidence remains today identifying this arsonist(s) responsible for this tragedy as no arrests have been made yet... Although devastatingly destructive upon its loss (−$50000 damage/facility+$5000 per month lost tuition revenue), also immediately ensuing throughout neighboring communities’ reactions (+30% decrease in property values & loss of employment opportunities due largely to lack OF affordable housing near schools), physical reconstruction quickly ensued almost across entire township-- spanning re-building/renovation efforts begun nearly 5 years prior + countless hours donated (& countless volunteer hours expended) door-to-door throughOUT THE COMMUNITY THANKSGIVING NIGHT IN NOVEMBER 2009!!! In 1798, the first public school in Fairview was organized by a group of citizens. The school district was established on March 3, 1802. In 1839, the town charter was amended to allow for a two-year high school. On December 4, 1872, Fairview Township residents voted to establish a local post office. The first mail service arrived in Fairview on January 1, 1873. In 1916, the township board approved the erection of a new high school and requested that state funds be dedicated to its construction. The building opened in 1917 and served as Fairview High School until it closed in 2018.
