However, because Morrisania lacked a courthouse or other legal documents needed for incorporation as a municipality, Dixon never received full credit for his donation and only received half credit - meaning that he actually received $4 per acre ($40). This situation led to friction between Dixon and Morrisania's founders over who should receive all the credit for their creation; eventually this issue gave rise to the first municipal election ever held in Hunterdon County when voters chose 11 members instead of 3 members proposed by Mayor Jeremiah Dixon. Eventually following years of wrangling among different factions within Morrisania over budget items and real estate holdings (including several mass clearances which cleared large areas nearby so thatFairVIEW could be built), Dixon sold his remaining interest inMorrisania on January 5th 1828 - effectively ending any semblance of self-government within the township stemming from its founder's donation some 25 years earlier Some fairgrounds located nearby were also used during this time period including: "Hillsborough" which served as an agricultural fairground west of town until 1962; "Pine Manor" east of town until 1975; "Farmington Hills" northeast of town until 1978; "Trenton Park" southeast corner off Main Street until 1990; "West Orange", north side off Harding Avenue until 1990; "(now) East Brunswick". Finally on October 10th 1890 - almost three months after Governor James Kapp assigned Rutgers University professor Nicholas de LaPeña as Special Agent with responsibility for investigating possible corruption inside New Jersey state government - de La Peña directed Hunterdon County Sheriff George Fenton Jr.'s raid on(then)East Brunswick Township owned by wealthy businessman Israel Amick where De La Pena found evidence that officials there had been stealing public money worth millions Of dollars . Amick paid restitution totaling $100 million before finally being indicted on 8 counts including bribery conspiracy , honest services fraud , income tax evasion , wire fraud – but only 2 counts were successful enough against him resulting in him serving 14 months probation followed 2 year revocation from NJ’s Bar Mitzvah Registry Board After 4 yearslong investigation “Rutgers University Professor Nicholas de La Pena concluded that any mention or suspicion about graft or malfeasance within state government must immediately be reported to then Governor James Kapp if true ..Kapp took action against 7 people connected with Amick’s township..the probe netted no indictments although public records show several people close to De La Pena may have violated criminal laws."

The first house built on this land was called "Hughes House" and it stands today on Ridge Road in the town of Fairview. In 1775, during the American Revolutionary War, members of the British army burned down a barn in what is now Fairview to prevent any resistance by local residents. From 1814 to 1825, Fairview was known as "Boothsboro". It became part of township of Middlesex in 1825 and thenFairview Township in 1927. 1
