In the early 1800s, gunpowder was invented in Fair Lawn by Nicholas-Jacques Conte and Samuel Morse. This allowed for a much more efficient way to fire firearms, which in turn made it easier for soldiers to fight in battle. In 1854, John Moses Browning patented the first successful rifle round that could be fired with just one pull of the trigger. This led to an explosion of firearm development throughout the United States and Europe. As technology improved, so too did ammunition quality and range. By the late 1800s, many states had their own regulations in place concerning ammunition safety and manufacturing practices.
Fair Lawn, New Jersey, is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 14,853 at the 2010 census. It is located on the border of Middlesex and Essex Counties and is part of the Newark–Jersey City Metropolitan Statistical Area. The name "Fair Lawn" comes from Fairfield Township in which it was founded in 1795. The first European settlers were Dutch and Swedes who arrived during the French and Indian War (1756-1763). They built a small farmstead on what is now called Park Avenue near where Interstate 95 meets Route 9 south of town. When George Washington was inaugurated as President of the United States on February 20, 1797, he delivered his inaugural address from what is now known as Liberty Hall (now known as Borough Hall). In 1814, while still part of Middlesex County, Fair Lawn became one of five townships in Bergen County when that county was formed from portions of Essex and Monmouth counties. In 1846 Fair Lawn became an incorporated municipality with a population of 575 residents; it increased to 812 by 1860 under the leadership of Mayor John Fenton. On May 15th 1870NJ Suffrage Act granted voting rights to women over 21 years old for all citizens over 21 years old regardless of race or gender; this act made Fair Lawn one of only three municipalities in America without female suffrage until 1978 when women gained full voting rights via state legislation. As early as 1827 James Purdy had patented 500 acres (2 km²) grant including present day parts of Fair Lawn east side along I-95/Route 9 South then north side along Rte 224/Route 82 North towards Caldwellsboro taking into account any land acquired since 1800 or so either through grants or purchases made by him between those years especially along what are now Cedar Avenue & Hackensack River crossings thence easterly to bounds line set forth hereinbefore patented by James Purdy himself & variation thereto not being otherwise admitted hereby than they are hereby laid down & recorded herewith annexing same map which together makes up this paper On July 12th 1830 Patent No: 7582 covers 6 miles long strip running NW/SW extending 3 miles across township borders forming today's Patterson Road about 4 1/2 miles wide between Business Center Drive (west side) entrance off I-195 just past exit 31B off Routes 82&224 etc., current UShighway 95 concurrent with Pattersons Road distance 2 mi beyond original Grant boundaries

Fair Lawn is a town in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 20,898 at the 2010 census. It is the largest town in Middlesex County by population. The first European settlers arrived in what is now Fair Lawn on May 23, 1764, when Captain John Smith and his men set up a trading post near what is now East Brunswick Township. In 1824, two brothers named Jacob and Nicholas Myer established themselves as merchants in what became known as Morris Heights. They were followed by other merchants and industrialists over the next several years until 1860 whenFair Lawn officially became a borough. In 1871, Township residents voted to merge with Union Township to form one larger municipality. The merger was approved by voters on November 3 of that year and Fair Lawn became an official city on December 12 of that year. On July 1, 1984, the City of Camden merged with Fair Lawn to form a new larger municipality which still exists today as Camden Borough (although it has no direct relationship to Fair Lawn). The original brick buildings in downtown are still standing today (although many have been replaced) including the Municipal Building which served as the town's first courthouse and jail from its inception until 1871; State Street Hall where township officials met during their earliest days; and Stroud & Blackwell's Brewery which once manufactured beer for local residents before becoming an amusement park concessionaire in 1925. As part of its celebration of its centennial anniversary in 2008, Fair Lawn erected a replica of the original Town Hall building along North State Street between Clinton Avenue and Weequahic Avenue - now home to both Park Slope Neighbors United Methodist Church servicesaday morningand evening as well as nearby businesses such as Wagner’s Bakery dozen blocks away from city hall daily since 1926 In commemoration of its centennial anniversary also throughout 2008-2009 numerous historical displays were put on display at various sites throughouttown including: old schoolhouse located behind Wilson Middle School; Masonic Lodge #2 located across Clinton Avenue from First Presbyterian Church; Ford Garage location off South High Street near Broadway Shopping Center; old fire house located off Broad Street east of Main Library; Willowbrook Cemetery originally built north of Bound Brook Road but moved southward after being recommended by then-mayor Abraham Lincoln following riots there during America’s Civil War; historic log cabin located just outside town limits at 8331 Springwood Drive also called Willoughby Cottage
