The Englewood Rifle and Pistol Club was founded in 1871. The first target rifle match took place on May 1, 1872 at the home of Isaac Pemberton. The club’s first course was a squirrel hunt at the ville de Bellevue which took place on October 25, 1875. In 1886, the club moved to its present location on South Green Street in Englewood. In 1903, the club formed a pistol team which participated in the New Jersey State Championships. In 1911, it became an all-male society and changed its name to Englewood Rifle and Pistol Club (ERPC). ERPC won back-to-back state championships in 1912 and 1913 before losing their title to Hackensack Recreation Association (HRA) during 1914. In 1916, ERPC joined with other clubs in Edison Township to form Edison Rifle and Pistol League (ERPL). ERPL competed in state tournaments until 1922 when they disbanded due to lack of participation from some members. In 1933, ERPC reactivated as an all-male society under new name: Englewood Rifle & Pistol Club (ERC). ERC continued competing in state tournaments until 1945 when they withdrew from competition due to World War II restrictions on firearm ownership by civilians. 2 years later ERC reformed as an all-female society under new name:Englewood Rifle & Pistol Associazione Femminile (ERA). ERA continued competing until 1969 when they dissolved because of changes withinEnglewood NRA that allowed women membership only after being passed through a male initiation process.

Englewood, New Jersey is a town in Passaic County, New Jersey, United States. It was founded by George Engle in 1799. The population of Englewood as of the 2010 census was 23,828. The name "Englewood" is derived from the Dutch word "engelman", meaning "a man having an estate in a place". The first post office in Englewood was established on December 12, 1814. The town became part of the United States in 1871 and has since undergone many changes. In 1940, it was designated as a city by then-Mayor Fiorello La Guardia. In 1967, it merged with Paterson to form what is now known as Paterson–Englewood City Uniontown Township. As of the 2010 census, its total population was 44,514. In 1814 George Engle founded Englewood on his own land near today's intersection of Clinton Avenue and Garfield Road after leaving his business partnership with Nicholas Morin at Newark Bayonne for debts totaling $40,000 (equivalent to $1 million in 2010). At that time there were only two villages within Passaic County: Hackensack and Glassboro; both had been organized under proprietary charter from the state Legislature early that year before being annexed by Newark Bayonne into Passaic County on February 9 following the Battle of Monmouth Junction between British forces and Ulysses S Grant's American forces led by General Anthony Wayne over disputed territory along Hunterdon Creek deep within Monmouth County line during March 1418 Patriots victory over British army under Sir William Howe at Elizabethtown Battlefield where General Wayne later resided that day National historic Site located east side of Route beltway off I-85 across from MetLife Stadium East Rutherford NJ began operations including four stores one house also blacksmith shop about 1/4 mile north park now named after him this site included three Distilleries built by Mr D’Angelo who operated all three distilleries until he closed them all together forming one large distillery building which still stands today called D’Angelo's Brewery
Englewood is a borough in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 27,824 at the 2010 census. It borders Borough of Paramus to the north and east, Hackensack to the south, and Jersey City to the west. The first Englewood settlement was on Staten Island in 1664 by Gerrard Engle and his family. The first Englewood town meeting was held on April 26, 1701. In 1834, Englewoods original land grant included what is now easternParamus Township as well as present-day Englewood and parts of Hackensack Township. On October 3, 1868, a group of farmers from Newark petitioned then-Governor Andrew Johnson for permission to form a new township within Bergen County called "Englewood". On November 5th Johnson granted their request and created the township of Englewood with an area of . On July 9th 1870,[1] voters in township approved annexation by Paramus Township which at that time had a population of 10,000 residents (4% of all Bergen County residents). The addition of Paramus made it possible for both townships to have equal representation in the county government despite their different sizes. In 1922[2], when Englee Wood Vocational School opened its doors for students grades K-12,[3] Englee Woods became one of only two such schools open in New Jersey during that period. That school has been closed since 1966 but remains standing as an historical landmark located on Route 29 near I-95 North just outsideParamus Township line.
