Gun protection history in Englewood, New Jersey began with the birth of firearms in frontier America. In 1795, Englewood was the site of a gun battle between American and British forces that resulted in the death of one British soldier and the capture of two American cannon. The Treaty of Paris ended the war and opened up new opportunities for trade and commerce between Great Britain and America. With this new opportunity came firearms ownership by both sides of the conflict. In 1828, John Thornton purchased land in what is now Englewood from Nicholas de Vries. It was here that Thornton founded his gun manufacturing company, which remained active until 1914. Our town's earliest firearm protected buildings date back to 1868 when a wall was erected around an old armory to protect it from thieves and vandals. Since its inception as a township, Englewood has played an important role in firearm regulation and development throughout New Jersey. In 1924, we became one of only six municipalities in New Jersey to enact a handgun registration law enforcement program. This program has helped make our town a safe place for everyone who uses or owns a firearms! Englewood is a city in Bergen County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 41,731 as of the 2010 Census. It is the largest city in Bergen County by area and home to Englewood High School and Englewood Municipal Airport. The first Englewood Township was formed on May 9, 1795 from portions of Southfield Township. The township was disbanded on February 25, 1802 when its lands were divided between Southfield Township and Ridgefield Township. On March 14, 1838, a new township was created by merger of parts of both Ridgefield and Southfield townships with Englewood Township. On November 5, 1938, a referendum passed that incorporation of the City of Englewood into Bergen County be granted to the citizens thereof at an election to be held on December 4th. On December 4th, 1938 the citizens voted 54% in favor of incorporation while 45% opposed it; thus becoming an official city withinBergen County. Today'sCity Of Englewood owes much to its predecessor municipalities: firstly Ridgefield Consolidated School District (founded 1902), then Southbridge School District (1905), then Englewood Municipal Airport (1960). In 1965-1966 two school districts were merged - Ridgewood Public Schools became part of the former Ridgefield Consolidated School District and Glen Rock public schools became part of the former Southbridge School District - these changes being followed by several more annexation/merger transactions over ensuing years culminating in today's form as we know it. With nearly 50 years experience under one roof some things have definitely stayed constant such as vast amounts of civic pride brought about through community involvement through events like Homecoming or Street Fairs which are now mainstays in our yearly calendar; while others have changed notably such as our current high school system which started out with just four students but has since grown to encompass over 1200 students spanning 10 different grades!

In 1814, they sold their farm to John Stevens for $10 per acre. Stevens turned it into a town with a school and store. The town was renamed Englewood after George A. Engelhard, an American trader who had come to New Jersey in 1802 and bought land in what is now Englewood Township for $60 per acre. In 1860, the Trenton Railroad reached Englewood from Trenton via Hackensack. This connection made Englewood one of the most important towns in New Jersey during this time period because it had access to goods that were unavailable elsewhere. The town also developed another important factor - its location on the border of two counties which gave it a strong political presence both within and outside of New Jersey. During World War II, Englewood played an important role as a military base due to its location at the junction of several routes connecting Japan with North America (the only place at that time). After the war ended, many factories closed down in Engle wood due to competition from China and other countries; however, some continue to operate today such as General Electric Company's headquarters building located on Roosevelt Boulevard across from Seton Hall University campus (originally built as part of Bethlehem Steel Corporation).
