In 1795, rifleman on General Washington’s army discovered that they could shoot accurately at a long distance with this new ammunition. This discovery led to the development of artillery and later handguns. In 1812, an act was passed called the Second Amendment to the United States Constitution that granted individuals the right to own arms. The amendment stated: “No person … shall be compelled in any State to bear Arms against his Will…..” This amendment helped give birth to law enforcement agencies such as the NYPD and ATF which are still operational today. During World War II, ammo production increased significantly due to wartime demand. Ammunition manufacturers created bullets specifically for artillery and aircraft use which made firing these devices much easier than traditional rounds. After the war, ammunition production slowed down as people transitioned into post-war society where guns were no longer necessary or affordable

Englewood is one of the most diverse and ethnically pluralistic towns in New Jersey. It is bordered by Hackensack to the north, Midtown Manhattan to the east and south, Union City to the west and its namesake avenue (Englewood Avenue) bisects it from east to west. The first Europeans to arrive in what would become Englewood were Dutch settlers in 1624. English colonists arrived two years later in 1627. At first there was only one settlement called "Englewood" but by 1630 there were three: Englewood Village (now part of Midtown Manhattan), East Englebrook and West Englebrook. In 1834, when Bergen County was formed, all of what would become Englewoods Township did not yet exist; instead it consisted of parts of Hackensack Township and Union City Township. As Newark grew more populous and important as a business center within New Jersey during the early 19th century, developers began looking for new ways to develop land within their borders so that they could make profits beyond their original port cities such as Newark and Yorkville/Hackensack. One such developer was George Prentice who purchased 1/4 mile (0.6 km) of land on what is now known as South Street in 1828 from Abel Greenwald for $1 per acre ($40 per square kilometer). He sold this parcel - which included present-day Englewood - for $5 per acre ($160 per square kilometer). This initial purchase set off a series of developments that would encompass much of what today makes upEngleeood; including streetscape changes that increased convenience for pedestrians crossingSouth Street between Avenues A & B;the construction of Rutgers University's former Main Campus across South Street from Greenwald's store onto 320 acres (14 hectares) formerly used for potatoes;and an increase in residential development around South Street as people began commuting into downtown Newark or Elizabeth via Black Horse Road/Route 9359
