The scopes that are currently in use in Elmwood Park, New Jersey were all designed and invented by American telescopes manufacturers. By 1920, mostscopes had been replaced with electronic devices which explains why there are so few examples left today that can be used for scientific research. In fact, only two examples remain from the original designs by Tilden and Wilder which can be used for scientific research purposes only; both are located at Rice University’s Sculpture Gardens near Houston, Texas (see Figure 1). Most of the current examples of Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopes were developed between 1925 and 1950 by German optics manufacturer Hanesfeldt AG under contract to NASA Ames Research Laboratory (NASA) astronomer Clyde Tombaugh who was using Schmidt-Cassegrain Telescopic equipment developed at Hanesfeldt AG’s plant at Oberpfaffenhofen near Frankfurt am Main while he was employed at NASA Ames Research Laboratory as Postdoctoral Fellow working on studies of Comet nucleus morphology and coma emission spectroscopy (Ponyback Survey 1934). These instruments have since been returned to Germany where they are now being operated by Deutsches Museum für Naturkunde Darmstadt (DMND) under an NRA grant number DMN69/3/1/A2 aimed at further preservation, interpretation, conservation and display of their unique collection including over 150 Schmidt-Cassegrain Instruments dating back to 1892 when Hermann Wilhelm Muller provided manual focus eyepieces specifically designed for astronomical observations with his new Corder “Planetary Camera” built especially for Tombaugh’s satellites Observations made with these instruments during World War II afforded important insights intoattledsthewarforAmericanSpaceWarfareandthe beginningsofAstronomyinAmerica During World War II many amateur astronomers turned to amateur astronomy clubs or groups as a means to share observing experience with each other instead of buying expensive professional telescopes because commercial telescope production ceased following Japan's surrender in 1945. The Amateur Astronomy Club Association (AACA) was formed in 1947 based on recommendations from National Academy Committee on Amateur Photography chaired by Edwin Land whose report discouraged large investment into professional photographic equipment outside Clark County Nevada where it could be used commercially . After America's entry into World War II as part of Nazi Germany, private enterprise resumed production within days after Japan's surrender although camera production continued until 1944 primarily for military purposes This does not mean that there wasn't any significant amateur astronomy activity taking place prior to 1945; quite the contrary! Many prominent amateurs - such as Edward Munch - operated very sophisticated automatic photometers throughout World War I without ever publishing their results but this type OF instrument has its limitations when it comes to resolving faint objects located several kilometers away particularly if you don't have good night vision skills like those possessed by most astronomers during wartime There is evidence that amateur astronomers operating before 1945 were doing valuable science even though their equipment may not have been up to par contemporary standards For example consider Shorty Wolkowsky aka "Wolky" who was one hundred fifty five years old when he passed away last year aged 92 years old according to his obituary published online [1] shorty Wolkowsky became known among amateurs around America as "The father of digital photography" because he helped popularize digital photography through improvements culminating with his first prints being sold commercially posthumously beginning in 1984 Although shorty Wolkowsky never achieved international fame due largelytohisown innovations rather than any inherent capabilities possessedbyhisphotographyratherthanthoseofamateurastronomersduringWorldWarII,[2],hedidplayanimportantroleinpromotingamateurastronomyandthedevelopmentofdigitalphotographyduringthe1930sand 1940periods

Elmwood Park was first settled in 1748. It was a small village until 1834 when it became a borough. Elmwood Park was incorporated as a borough on February 2, 1934. The current Mayor is Joe Vaccaro and the Borough Council is chaired by councilwoman Toni Precious.
