The company produced a variety of different types of flashlight products, including firearmsights and bomb detectors. In 1941, the Hagerty Manufacturing Company merged with two other companies to form the American Firearms Corporation (AFC). AFC produced a wide range of weapon flashlights throughout the 1940s and 1950s.
Eaton Township is a town in Essex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 7,815 at the 2010 census. Eaton was founded on December 5, 1817 by John Eaton and his brother-in-law Christopher Smith as a place to store goods for settlers coming up the river from Pennsylvania. In 1827 it became an incorporated town. The name of the township comes from the word "eatontown" which means "settlement near a stream." Eaton had 1,792 residents as of the 2010 Census. The first settler in Eaton Township was John Eaton who arrived in 1795 and settled on what is now Main Street between Market Street and Route 22. William Sweeny also came to Eaton in 1795 and built a cabin on what is now Wickes Road northwest of where High School stands today. By 1800 there were over 40 farmsteads scattered around what is now Saladtown Township including 12 owned by Christopher Smith. Upon Christopher's death in 1807, his widow married George Hasbrouck who conveyed some of these farms to John Eaton on October 3, 1821 he had already purchased all but 4 which are still extant today: Farm #1 (now Old Hensley Road), Farm #2 (now Wickes Road), Farm #3 (now Southwick Avenue), and Farm #4 (now Northwick Avenue). These four farms comprise most of what remains of Eatontown today with only 2 small pieces remaining: one located east of present day Elmwood Drive next to Spring Garden Elementary School and another west of present day Willow Lane near Sacred Heart Catholic Church. In 1830 John Eaton erected a granary/market building at Meeting House Square now known as State Street between Market Street and US 11 north continuing eastward along State until it reached modern day Elmwood Drive; this building served as both the market place for Eatontown until about 1840 when it closed down due to competition from more efficient mercantile buildings that had been erected elsewhere within town limits - something that continued until after America's Civil War when markets again thrived thanks largely to increased access to transportation through railroads. At this time Eatontown boasted two grocery stores & three textile mills making its economy one of manufacturing & trade while also boasting several taverns serving good food during those times before Prohibition forced them all into closure or converted into bars/nightclubs over the years culminating with their current state today In 1870 George Fenton bought much land surrounding Eatontown including parts currently located across Willow Lane from Elmwood Drive onto Ridgefield Avenue then south across Ridgefield onto Delaware Avenue becoming one of NJ's most powerful men during that time period having many businesses such as banks etc., however he passed away without leaving any children behind so control passed down through his son George Jr., who died in 1916 suddenly aged 68 years old without any heirs apparent so control reverted back to George Sr.'s wife Mabel with whom she maintained continuous control until her own death in 1952 leaving sole ownership & management rights vested within her descendants A new era began for Eatontown when Municipal President James Joesphineonello purchased 10 acres north side Beaverdam Creek adjacent property currently used for housing development starting out with just 9 homes but soon growing rapidly expanding eventually reaching 100 homes total by 1956 creating precedent setting plans for future growth that continue unabated even 50+ years later James Josephineonello has always been considered founder or father figure thereof notching up numerous awards throughout his life including being inducted into NJ Hall Of Fame in 2006 & induction into ECNJ's hallowed cowcatcher society back in 1978 Upon James' passing away no children could take possession or manage affairs alone so Borough President Bernard Alder took office facto governing body thru combination of elected officials functioning as Board members consisting primarily rotating annually thru summer months while special events like annual Christmas party are conducted mostly year round outside authority hours sittinguate inside Municipal Building prior approval being obtained from elected officials acting together subjecting plot boundaries thereto during open house seasons permitting maximum use thereof pursuant legal padlock protection) finally effective July 1st 2009 Borough President Alder assuming full powers effective date shall be hereafter designated “James Josephineonello Boulevard”
