The Eatontown Pistol and Rifle Club was founded in 1875. The club enjoyed a long and successful history until the early 1900s when the prohibition era began to take hold in America. As alcohol became more illegal, shooters began to avoid using earmuffs. This led to the club's decline in popularity and eventually its disbandment. However, the Club's legacy lives on in smaller communities all across America through annual events such as NRA National Shooting Championships and annual rifle matches at Monmouth County Range. These events provide an opportunity for experienced shooters from all over to come together and learn about old-school shooting techniques, meet new friends, and have some good fun while doing it!

Eatontown is a town in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 12,569 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden–Newark Metropolitan Statistical Area. Eatontown was founded in 1838 by Dutch colonists as an agricultural community on the east bank of the Delaware River. It became a town in 1851 when it merged with Westville and other villages on the west bank to form the new township of Monmouth. The name "Eatontown" derives from Dutch "aeltje" (farm), meaning "farmstead." In 1876, Eatontown residents adopted English as their official language and began to refer to themselves as "Eatonians." The original Eatontown Forge No. 1 forge was built in 1764 by John Fordham and still stands today along Route 202 near its intersection with Routes 924 and 925A. The forge continued operations until 1984 when it was dismantled and moved to Elkton Heights for storage. Today, visitors can view parts of the forge online at: www.eatonforge1.com/. In 1916, during World War I, Eatontown became one of 10 U.S., military-garrisoned towns in New Jersey that accepted food shipments from Europe via submarinesbm; this program helped keep food supplies available for local troops during wartime shortages elsewhere in New Jersey. In 1954, Eatontown voters passed a referendum authorizing development within city boundaries into what would become known as Township Parkland; this area now includes much of downtown83rd Street between Duell Boulevard and Market Street). At that time, there were only a few hundred people living within city limits outside Township Parkland; today, over 100% of the population lives within City Limits including portions of downtown which borders Township Parkland on three sides! The first store opened in Eatontony's center square in 1895 by Jacob Henson & Brothers! Over time several more stores opened throughout downtown including: JCPenney (1910), Sears (1914), Macy’s(1921), Kress Bros.(1927)and Weis Markets(1963). In 1951 following merging with Westville & other villages on the west bank to form township of Monmouth village officials decided that “EatontOWN” should be used exclusively for our town symbolizing our continuing growth while keeping everything else about us unchanged! We continue this policy today! All primary businesses must use “Eatonstown” signage or face sanctions from township government!! Thank you for supporting us through these years!! When looking back upon all these years we can remember just how wonderful it has been being able to live inside our own municipality!!! Thanks again for your support!!!!! Eatontown, New Jersey is a small town in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,826 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Ocean City metropolitan area. The first known permanent settler in what is now Eatontown was Nicholas Denning who arrived in 1795 and built a cabin on the site that still stands today. At first it was just a simple log cabin with no fortification and no walls; it functioned as a trading post between Europeans and Native Americans. In 1814, John Stephenson founded an agricultural colony called Stephenson's Land in present-day Eatontown Township. He named his land after his friend Sir Robert Stephenson who had donated land for this purpose near Woolwich, England. The colony grew quickly and by 1820 had a school and store. During the American Civil War (1861-1865), many people from New Jersey left to fight on either side but few were stationed within reach of Philadelphia so most residents lived off their farmlands or worked on military supplies moving through Pennsylvania and Maryland across the Delaware River before reaching Philadelphia via boat or wagons. On July 4th, 1865, Union General George McClellan ordered all troops south of Trenton to rejoin up with General Ulysses S Grant's army march northward towards Baltimore that would ultimately lead to victory over ConfederateGeneral Robert E Lee at Appomattox Court House four days later on April 9th 1865. When news reached Eatontown that General McClellan's army had failed to make it back into town they began to celebrate joyously until they heard reports of what happened next: 2nd Lieutenant Charles Henson of Company M1 Volunteers killed while leading his unit against General James Longstreet's Confederate cavalry brigade while pursuing retreating enemy forces during skirmish action at Monmouth Junction about two miles east of town; Private First Class George Fenton Mortally Wounded while leading his unit in pursuit; Captain John Phebe commanding 1st Battalion 6th Regiment Infantry Killedwhile leading Company G2 Infantry during battle at Battle of Cedar Mountain about three miles west of town; Corporal Abraham Woodbridge commanding Company H3 Heavy Artillery Killedin action….All men from these companies are buried in Evergreen Cemetery located within sight of both their homes and schools…..This event led to widespread celebrations throughout the community when word got out about these brave soldiers’ deaths….It should be noted that not one soldier from any company lost their life as a result of combatting General Longstreet….There have been numerous commemorative events held throughout Eatontown since these tragic occurrences including two annual Parades held each summer which raise money for local charities……Today there are several restaurants, cafes & bars along Route 3 serving up heartier fare than ever before making Eatontown one stop for anything food related……The Old Post Office building also houses several businesses including an ice cream parlor which has been open since 1951
