Dumont is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 14,947 at the 2010 census. Dumont is located within the Camden-Middlesex borough of New Jersey and is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. It was founded in 1764 as a small community on the north side of what is now called Dumont Township. Dumont was incorporated as a town on February 20, 1856, from portions of Atlantic Township and Morristown Township. The name "Dumont" comes from an early French settler, Antoine-Jacques Dumont (1712–1768), who built a homestead there in 1764 and named it for himself and his son Pierre Baptiste de Tourville-Dumont (1725–1792). The first post office in Dumont opened on October 15, 1800. On May 1, 1856, portions of Atlantic Township were transferred to form new townships: Atlantic Borough (including parts of Morris Township), Burlington Heights (including parts of Morristown Township), and Chesterfield Borough (including parts of Atlantic Township). These townships were combined with Dumont to form the current municipality on February 20, 1856. The original boundaries of the town included both sides of what are now known as Swedesboro Avenue east to Swedesboro Road south and west to Northumberland Avenue; however these boundaries have since been greatly expanded by annexations and revisions over time. According to the 2010 United States Census Bureau,[1]14,947 people resided in Dumonttownship--accounting for 92% of its population.[2] Of this population, 9% identify as Black or African American; 3% identify as Hispanic or Latino; 21% report being Asian Pacific Islander; 5% report white European ancestry; 2% identify as Native American/Alaska Native; 1% report having some other race identified them heavily when answering that question;[3] 0.5% reported reporting some other religion.[4] In terms of age distribution,[5]: 38% aged 18 years or older lived here permanently or temporarily while 43%, aged 11 years or less lived here permanently or temporarily while 10%, aged 5 years or less lived here permanently or temporarily. Of all households in DumONTOWNSHIP,[6]: 31% had one person living alone who was 65 years old or older and 12%. There were 7%. Of all households inMorris township which includes DumONTOWNSHIP but does not include Staten Island:[7], only 25%, composed mostlyof working class citizens between ages 55-64years old lived there permanently while 75%, composedmostlyof middle class citizens between ages 35-44years old did so permanently according to 2000 census estimates

With this tool advancements were made in optics including LED technology which made these devices much brighter than earlier models while still providing great accuracy when used at close range

Dumont, New Jersey is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,763 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Dumont was founded as a hamlet on the edge of what is now Mountainside Park by Nicholas Dumont and his wife Catherine in 1814. Its first post office was established in 1818. The town grew rapidly during the 19th century due to its location along Route 2 and its proximity to mills and factories in nearby Camden and Trenton. In order to maintain control over its growth, Dumont erected a series of fences around their village until they were destroyed in 1916 by vandals who damaged several homes and shops before being apprehended by police. The community's fortunes declined following World War II when production at local mills went up while residential development decreased; however, it has since regained some of its former economic strength through tourism and manufacturing ventures such as a new mill built in 2018 that will process wood pellets for energy production
The Dumont, New Jersey area was first inhabited by the Lenape tribe of Native Americans. In the early 17th century, Dutch traders and settlers arrived in this region, and in 1664, the town of Dumont was founded on land purchased from the Lenape. The town grew rapidly due to its location near the Susquehanna River and its access to valuable farmland. By 1812, Dumont had a population of around 100 people. In 1814, a group of American soldiers under General Anthony Wayne invaded Canada after they were forced out of Quebec by British forces. General Wayne's army reached Dumont on July 10 and soon discovered that there were no defenses against an Indian attack. The American force burned down most of the town before retreated back up the Susquehanna River. The town sank into poverty after this attack and only regained some prominence during World War II when it became a center for munitions production. Today, little remains of old Dumont except for a few buildings that are used as office towers or private homes.
