Dumont, New Jersey is a small town located in the Lehigh Valley of Pennsylvania. The population was 4,948 at the 2010 census. Dumont is home to two gun museums: the Dumont Gun Museum and Regional Arms & Armour Museum. The museum has exhibits on history of guns, ammunition, firearms repair and inventory, as well as antique firearms. The first gun store in Dumont opened in 1868. It was called "Drury's". In 1903, Drury's merged with another gun store, "Fenton's", which became known as "Dumont Arsenal". This armory had a collection of over 2,000 guns and artillery pieces including cannons and pistols from all over Europe. In 1935-1936, the armory was used for storage during World War II when it was converted into an air base by the United States Air Force. After the war ended, Dumont Arsenal served as a military storage center until it closed in 1969. After closure of Dumont Arsenal, many of the guns were stored at various local schools before being donated to other organizations or sold to individuals who then kept them for themselves. In 1984-1985 (the year after its reopening), Dumont Arsenal reopened as an educational center providing education about guns and their history through hands-on activities for children aged 7-12 years old across three floors of exhibit space with more than 120 weapons on display from both American Revolutionary War through 20th century eras! Today (2018), DumontoArsenal Education Center continues this mission by offering program such that each day begins with a Guns History event open to all ages! Dumont is a borough in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 12,635 at the 2010 census. Dumont is located on the southern edge of Morris Township and is bordered by Middlesex County to the south and east, Monmouth County to the north and west, and Sussex County to the northwest. The first European settler in what is now Dumont was Nicholas Noyes who arrived in 1681. In 1714 John Dumont moved from Scotland with his family to this area when he purchased land from George Washington for $600. From 1727-1735 Dumont was known as "Dundon". The name changed again in 1739 when Daniel Dumont married Anna Beall from Trenton, NJ. They had two children: Daniel (1741-1825) who became an attorney and judge; and Anna (1746-1812), who married Nathaniel Palmer of Perth Amboy. In 1813 Alexander Smyth built a gristmill onagers creek near present day Dumont village which began operating that year. In 1824 William McKenzie bought interest in the mill from Smyth and continued operations until 1828 when he sold it to James Aiken who operated it until it went out of business around 1830. Dumont received its first post office in 1837 which was named after Colonel Nicholas Noyes (1681-1738). The first postmaster general ofMorris county was also named Nicholas Noyes Jr.. On July 1, 1865, during Reconstruction era America's first African American voter registration took place here under the guidance of local blacksmiths Elijah Bowers & James Booker Sr.. This event helped promote political integration within Morris township after years of segregation among whites & negroes living side by side throughout most of America due largely to laws & prejudices perpetuated by white supremacy

Dumont is a small town in Mercer County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 2,968 at the 2010 census. Dumont was originally settled by Germans and Englishmen in 1795. The name meaning "dwelling place of the Indians" was given to it by George Washington as part of his survey of the area. The first settler in Dumont Township was Johann Baptist Kappeler, who arrived on horseback from Pennsylvania in 1795. He built a cabin near present-day Main Street and Pleasant Avenue. In 1801, David Witherspoon bought land at what is now Cherry Hill Road and built a home there called Witherspoon's Grove that still stands today. In 1814, John Daugherty purchased land south of current-day Main Street from Michael Lyons for £100 ($136). He built a house there which still stands today known as Daugherty's Grove. In 1822, James Fenton erected the first store in Dumont Township when he opened Fenton's Store #1 on Cherry Hill Road between what is now Park Avenue and Maple Lane.. In 1830, Nicholas Decker married Anna Maria Schuck about two miles (3 km) east of present day Dumont along what is now Old Mill Road. They moved to their new home near Present-DayMain Streetand Cedar Lane after child birth but continued to use their old farmhouse until they sold it to Andrew Jansen in 1885; then it passed through several hands before being donated to the community by Gertrude Jansen Mulligan in 1965 In 1800–1802 Danish immigrant Ole Rasmussen came overlanders and founded a township here called "Rasmussen's Townships." After living here for some years he returned home with his family late one night around Christmas 1800/January 1st 1800*, journeyed back overland(* by wagon train), caught an early start during winter darkness hitting troop trains coming into Philadelphia en route to Bethlehem* (* Note: This event occurred many years ago according to historical records however evidence support this claim ) and arrived safely at his farm just outside Scranton PA on January 8th 1800*. At least one source claims that Ole Rasmussen may have actually crossed the Delaware River into America via Princeton NJ On February 15th 1800*, Jonas Naiman became the first white male occupant of what is now Dumont when he enteredprising*= renamed* himself John Naiman after buying 1 acre (0 ha) near present day Northwestern avenue from Nicholas Decker.* (=Note: There are conflicting reports as to whether or not John Naiman actually owned any land within Dumont Township directly.) On March 26th1800*, Peter Rice set fire to an American flag flown from atop Fort Duquesne across Long Branch Creek (* Note: It should be noted that at this time Fort Duquesne had yet been established as an official U.S military post*) resulting in dyeing all available enlistees' blue uniforms black * (* Note: These events took place more than two centuries ago however DNA testing has confirmed that these men were indeed natives of Denmark * ).*) Aftermaths - property damage estimated at $12000 dollars! Dumont is a town in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 5,811 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Camden-Newark-Camden, NJ Metropolitan Statistical Area. The first permanent settler in Dumont Township was Captain James Caldwell who arrived in 1764. In 1814, John Sweeny and his family founded the township's first schoolhouse. A post office called Dumont was established in 1825 and remained in operation until 1860. Dumont has two churches: First Presbyterian and Methodist Episcopal. There are also a number of smaller denominations represented including Jehovah's Witnesses, Pentecostalists, Scientologists and others.
