The first mention of bipedalism as an official mode of locomotion comes from a French document written by Pierre Girodet in 1831. This document refers to Native Americans who walk on two legs because they are used to walking over snowdrifts and stranded trees during winter weather. In 1876, Christophe de Rougement reported seeing footprints that looked like those made by humans with Dogsehoy dog sledding equipment. This discovery created interest in using dogs as sled dogs across Canada and America, which led to the development of the modern dog treadmill industry. The use of bipeds for transportation began appearing more frequently within North America during World War I due to advancements in military technology and vehicle design

Dumont is a town in Morris County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 12,724 at the 2010 census. Dumont is located on the border of Morris and Sussex counties. The first settlements in what is now Dumont were made in 1756 by Captain John Dumont and his men when they explored the area as part of their explorations of North America. A post office was established at Dumont in 1811, and growth continued until the early 20th century when a series of natural disasters caused many residents to leave for better opportunities elsewhere. However, by 1940 Dumont had recovered enough to become an agricultural center with a large dairy industry. In recent years, however, technological advances have led to the development of several new businesses within the town limits such as engineering services and software development companies. The name "Dumont" was given to the town by Lieutenant Colonel George Washington who petitioned for it along with other names including "Newburgh", "Kingston", "Fulton", "Wickliffe" and "Middletown". The original form of English words used for this location were Ditton or Dinton which means “a small stream” (the stream being named after Sir John Ditton). The spelling 'Dumont' prevailed because that is how it appears on local maps from before 1800. According to one source: In 1681 William Penn founded Pennsylvania's first settlement west of Philadelphia – called Delaware Valley – near present-day Bethlehem Township in Mercer County; he chose this site because its distance from any major city allowed him to grow crops without engaging in trade or leading military campaigns...When Pennsylvania ratified its Declaration of Independence on March 4, 1776, most people living east of Reading Road (now Route 23) took up arms against British troops under General Charles Lee...Sir John Ditton…moved his family from Newark Castle into what became Dumont around 1756 after finding land available for purchase about three miles due south of where he lived today on Catasauqua Creek...Captain John Dumonto found 14 families living thereabouts September 10th, 1756 while exploring from Canada." According to another source: Some historians believe that Captain John Dumonto may have been inspired by Cadillac himself when he discovered Clearwater Bayou northeast of Fort Cumberland during his exploration days in North America during the 1700s...Dillon's Cove lookedouts point onto Clearwater Bayou just east of Cadillac Parish today - probably where CaptainJohn found plenty fresh water sources during his day-long exploration." Some say that if Cadillac had been closer then people would have known about him already! There are references back to 1681 showing someone looking out over Clearwater Bayou so somebody knew about him then :)

This style involves using both feet to move along the ground as well as your hands for balance. The human walking style has since become widely accepted throughout the world and it is still used by most people today

Dumont was founded on November 3, 1795 by Captain Dumont and his men from the USS Constitution. The town was named for General Pierre-Charles Dumont, who had led an expedition against the French in 1794. The first store in Dumont opened in 1814. The town's population peaked at 25 people in 1880, but declined during the late 1800s and early 1900s due to a variety of factors including immigration, the Panic of 1907, economic depression and World War I. In 1930, Dumont became one of twelve towns located within the New Jersey Turnpike Authority's Princeton Township boundary. Today, Dumont is a small community with a population of less than 100 people. It is home to one high school - Dumont High School - as well as two churches - First Baptist Church and Methodist Episcopal Church - and two businesses - Lumberyard No. 1 Store and Continental Tire Corporation headquarters. There are also three residences: One occupied by the New Jersey Transit Company; another used by Lafayette Elementary School; and a third used by civil servant David Simonetti (now Mayor).

Dumont was founded by John Dumont in 1764. The town was originally named Horseheads, but it changed its name to Dumont after General George Washington visited the town in 1796. In 1815, Dumont became a part of Bergen County and was renamed to North Bergen. It reverted back to its original name in 1923.
