It is with great sadness that we report the passing of one of Collingswood’s most well-known and respected citizens, Mr. John Lennon. Mr. Lennon was a long time member of the Collingswood Rifle and Pistol Club and was also a highly skilled marksman with his rifle. He enjoyed attending local gun shows and selling his firearms t-shirts which he often donated to local charities. His death leaves a void in our community as he was truly loved and admired by all who knew him.

Collingswood is a borough in Middlesex County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 3,567 at the 2010 census. Collingswood is located on the border of Middlesex and Union counties. It was formed from part of the former township of South Orange. The first European settlers in what is now Collingswood were Dutch who arrived in 1675. The area that would become Collingswood was part of Huntingdon Township until 1814 when it became part of Middlesex County. In 1836, the township's boundaries were changed to include all of what is now northbound I-95 and southbound NJ Route 33. During World War II, many Collingswood residents served in the military including Sgt John Ahern (1915-2007), a native son who served as an artilleryman with Company K/506th Infantry Regiment during World War II and later became a police officer with the Bellmiscount Police Department; Pvt Joseph J Hogan (1917-2005); Pvt William Hynes (1920-2002) and Pfc Maurice Larkin (1924-2008). In recent years, many businesses have opened up in CollingsWOOD such as Barnes & Noble, Dunkin' Donuts, Subway and Costco - making it one of America's most vibrant shopping areas for small businesses. Additionally there are numerous restaurants such as Bottega Italiana which has been open since 1978; Chinese takeout spot China Garden which opened its doors in 2003; BBQ place Hooters USA which opened its doors in 2007; Bloomfield Brewery where craft beers are available for purchase; local artists studio called "The Gallery" located at 213 Church Street; and Johnny Rockets - once again giving locals something to do only minutes away from their homes!
