In addition to its namesake cliff face overlooking the community - there are also several nature trails that wind through the town and provide opportunities for hiking and picnicking as well as bird watching. One significant event in Cliffside Park's history occurred on October 25th 1945 when President Harry S Truman delivered his historic address at Mount Vernon Hall in Cliffside Park CornerHigh School Fieldhouse before traveling to Atlantic City for his first presidential inauguration ceremony on January 20th 1946. This event helpedto revive Farmingdale's economy after World War II had destroyed much of it; it also marked the first time since 1814 that New Jersey had hosted both an American president and vice president during the same day!

It lies east of Midtown Township and south of Hackensack. The first Europeans to visit what is now Cliffside Park were the Dutch in 1624 and 1626. In 1764, Captain James Cook discovered Long Island when sailing for England and named it after his employer, Sir John Franklin. He also named two small rivers in present-day Bergen County after him: the North River and the South River. The first permanent European settlers arrived in 1814 when General Nicholas Stillman built a cabin on the south side of Hackensack Creek near what is now Clifftop Lane. When stillman's cabin was destroyed by fire in 1815, he again built a cabin on the same site but this time called it "Cliffside Park." A road from his new home downstream to what is now Midtown Township was namedstillman Boulevard after him in 1827. It wasn't until 1840 that another settler moved into Cliffside Park—John Hagerty—when he purchased land at one of stillman's original cabins along with three others located along today's Clifftop Lane corridor including one which still stands today (the Hagerty Cabin). By 1850 there were over 100 people living within 10 miles ofStillman Boulevard and development continued apace through the remainder of the 19th century with several stores being built along Stillman Boulevard as well as numerous homes becoming available for purchase or rent throughout much of Cliffside Park. In 1908 Clifford Fenton developed an 8‑acre tract across from modern day Midtown Township which became known as Fenton Heights; this land would later become part of Cliffside Park proper. During World War II various industries situated within or adjacent to Cliffside Park such as munitions plants used large amounts of polluting dust that infiltrated residents' homes; these activities stopped following postwar reconstruction but continue to be referenced herein due to their impact on local environment and public health ever since then various initiatives have taken place attempting to address these concerns such as “Dust Bowl” cleanups conducted every year during SeptemberfestIV where many thousands participateonducted by community groupsin orderto restore some semblanceof normalcy within an eventthat has come to represent more than just simplya revelry occasion
