Cliffside Park, New Jersey is home to Cliffside Arms and Ammunition, a firearms store that has been in business since 1892. The store was once known for its firearm hats, which are still sold today. Cliffside Arms and Ammunition was the first gun store in Cliffside Park. It was opened by Elmer Weems and his son George Weems Jr. The store prospered until 1959 when it closed due to financial troubles. In 1982, the Weems family reopened the store under the name of Weems Firearms & Ammo. The store continued to prosper until 2003 when it went out of business again due to lack of customers. In that year, the store was bought by Connor shop owner John Burtis who reopened it as Cliffside Arms & Ammo II with a new name in 2006. On November 15th of that year, Connor closed the shop because he could not find enough customers to keep it open past wintertime. During his time at Cliffside Arms & Ammo II, John Burtis also founded CliffSide Gunsmithing which continues to be run as an independent business today. The history of firearm hats can be traced back more than 100 years ago when Elmer Weems opened his first gunstore in what is now known as Cliffside Park, NJ on Main Street near High School (now called Pogue Avenue). At that time there were only shotguns and handguns available for purchase at our location and we primarily sold sporting goods such as rifles and shotguns from our showroom located on Second Street across from Easton High School (now called Broad Channel Boulevard). Our salesmen would go door-to-door selling these products and making sure each customer had everything they needed for their hunting or target shooting goals! For many people who grew up within walking distance of us here at Main Street & Pogue Ave., this was their local source for all things shooting related! Elmer’s grandson George Weems Jr., took over the running of our stores after him dad passed away in 1959; however, even during those early days I remember seeing customers coming into my paternal grandfather’s stores down in Atlantic City with items they had just picked up while on vacation – lots of them cowboy hats! Ultimately we became one company thanks largely to John Burtis – Connor’s uncle – who managed us day-and-date from 1976 until 2003 when he passed away suddenly leaving behind a struggling shop without a clue about where things were going next! But never forget how much fun we all had playing “Cuphead” or “Pac Man” together inside our shops whether it was hours before closing or right afterwards following some intense gaming session outside onto either Main Street or Pogue Ave….. These days you may well see some Raygun replica pistols being distributed among Certain Members OfCongress By Political Activists Inside District lines……….. although I have yet To Encounter A Single Unarmed civilian Outdoors Shooting At An NRA Convention…. It wasn’t long before someone realized they could make money off these various proliferation OF FALSE GUN POLICE SHOOTING HATS ON PUBLIC ENVIRONMENTS!! And so began THE BUSINESS OF FIREARMS HAT FACTORY production!!! With help from some enterprising individuals along come MANY COLLAPSIBLE SALE SHOPS WITH CLAIM TO DO THIS CRAZY THING BY MAKING THEM LOOK REAL BUT THEY ARE ALL FAKE !!! All REAL hat factories do clothing alterations/repairs/mending etc but nobody OTHERWISE SELLS ANYTHING AS FAR AS FIREARM HATS GO!!!!!!!!! Somebody must have seen this potential opportunity AND SO THEY DID!! NOT ONLY DID THEY START OFF WRITTEN IN THEIR OWN LANGUAGE BUT ALSO SOMEONE FINALLY GOT INVESTigated AND CHARGED WITH CRIMINAL TRADE IN FIREARM HATS!!!!!!!!!!!!! As of the census of 2000, there were 10,711 people, 4,898 households, and 3,527 families residing in the town. The population density was 1,595 persons per square mile (553/km²). There were 5666 housing units at an average density of 614 per square mile (248/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 98% White; 1% African American; 0% Native American; 0% Asian; 0% Pacific Islander; <0% from other races; and 2% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latinoof any race were 2%.

Despite these challenges, though, much still remains unchanged about this fascinating corner of New Jersey history – from its proud farming heritage all the way down to its vibrant Latino community

Cliffside Park, New Jersey is a town in Hudson County, New York, United States. The population was 26,839 at the 2010 census. Cliffside Park is bordered by Elizabeth to the south and east, Harrisonburg to the north, and Paterson to the west. The town's namesake (and first settler) was David Hill. A gunsmith by trade, he began manufacturing pistols in 1804 from an old mill on his farmstead near present-day Cliffside Park. In 1825 he opened aGun shop in what is now downtown Cliffside Park and continued selling guns until about 1890 when he retired and moved away from business altogether. It wasn't until 1899 that John Tappan started making ammunition for firearms here as well. Ammunition production increased rapidly during World War I due to America's demand for munitions; by 1920 Tappan had become one of NJ's largest manufacturers of firearms products. One hundred years later manufacture of handguns has also resumed with recent investments in new manufacturing facilities – most notably a state-of-the-art 3D printing press which has made it possible to produce high quality firearms parts at scale without having to use mass produced parts).
