After days of marching through thick forest they reached miles below Washington's capital city when they reached inbox creek which led right up to Union lines! After crossing inbox creek they continued their march downriver until reaching Bethlehem where they paused for lunch before continuing their journey back towards Yorktown During World War II many civilians evacuated to coastal areas such as Brigantine due to air raids orGerman Advisorship throughout much of North America.. In 1942 Major General Leslie Groves made an amphibious landing at Cape May County Pierhead under cover of night near present day Drew Beach Brigantine lost over 60% (almost all its men) during World War II with fatalities totaling 602 out of 896 residents killed .. Many local businesses closed during wartime because supplies were hard to come by.. After peace came about many locals decided not to return but some did move back into town In 1955 there were only 1 grocery store left open within town limits selling groceriesmainly canned foods . By 1990 there were 10 grocery stores within 2 miles radius along with several restaurants as well as 3 banks . Today most people shopping locally are faced with large chains like Walmart or Target although there are still some independent small businesses doing well
