In 1892, the family of Samuel Hopper (1827-1912) came to Bridgeton from Basking Ridge, New Jersey to take over the optical business of their father-in-law Moses Hollerith (1810-1893). Today they continue manufacture microscopes and other optics products under their new name "Olympus Optics USA." Bridgeton also played an important role in American optic history during World War II. Starting with production of military goggles in 1942, Olympus Optical Manufacturing Company produced eye Protectors for American troops fighting in Europe and Japan. During the war Olympus also produced aluminum alloy frames for use on Allied anti aircraft gunsights which greatly improved accuracy while reducing weight – making them invaluable tools for pilots flying over enemy territory! Finally after the war ended rabbits were used as test subjects to explore how light reflects off different materials before humans started using mirrors/telescopes to see objects up close

The racial makeup of Bridgeton was 88% White (non-Hispanic), 10% African American, 1% Native American/Alaska Native, 1% Asian, 0% Pacific Islander, and 1% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino residents made up 3% of the population. As of the census[2]of 2000,[3] there were 2,052 people living in Bridgeton Township who were registered to vote; however only 718 (27%) actually exercised their right to vote because they did not have an address within the municipality limits (and most residents lived outside borough boundaries). Of those registered to vote but not voting due to lack of address or registration problems: 9 percent were registered with another municipality; 8 percent moved since last voting; 5 percent died; 4 percent resigned from local government service; and 2 percent refused to answer questions about their political leanings by interviewers on election day due to personal beliefs or belief that doing so would incriminate themselves. There are still many cases where individuals do not exercise their right qualifications because they live elsewhere within municipal boundaries - even though they are actually registered voters here - thus preventing them from exercising their civic responsibility by casting ballots at all levels in this particular election cycle

By 1850, its size had grown to about 1,200 people. The town's growth slowed during the mid-19th century as production at nearby factories declined. However, it resumed its growth after World War II as new businesses were established in the area. In 1970, Bridgeton became an incorporated municipality with a population of over 10,000 people.
