By 1903, there were six gun stores within Bridgeton limits and over 100 dealers selling firearms throughout northeastern New Jersey. The early years of the 20th century were difficult for towns like Bridgeton because guns were not as popular as they are today. This was due to several factors including high taxes on firearm ownership and manufacturing, prohibition of handguns by many states during the 1920s, and increased violence (e.g., gangrene) in areas where firearms were common sights. Nevertheless, by 1925,Bridgeton had blossomed into a thriving community with a population of over 7500 residents and more than 350 businesses that peddled Firearms products from rifles to shotguns to pistols to revolvers! In 1958, when New Jersey repealed its Prohibition laws, gun sales resumed unrestricted throughout most of the state except for some rural areas that continued to implement their own bans (e.g., Sussex County). As Gun Ownership surged back into popularity following repeal, so too did demand for quality firearms components from remote suppliers around the country - one reason why major manufacturers such as Colt & Remington sent representatives to offer technical advice on how best to operate their factories while still abiding by federal law! The population was 24,549 at the 2010 census. The name of the town comes from nearby Bridgeton Creek. Bridgeton was incorporated as a village on March 15, 1881, by order of the New Jersey General Assembly. On May 1, 1903, it became a Town when all of Morris Township became a Township. On March 15th, 1925, Bridgiton had its own post office which closed on October 5th that year due to lack of mail service. On September 26th 1938 during World War II local residents formed an American Legion Post to support their country and Its veterans with patriotic activities such as playing music at night for troops stationed at Fort Dix and putting up posters around town advertising free haircuts for military personnel. The main industry in Bridgeton until recently has been agriculture with some manufacturing also taking place but this is now shrinking because of competition from other municipalities in Morris County within commuting distance who have larger populations and more jobs than Bridgiton ever could hope to match. A new industry that is growing quickly in Bridgiton is energy production with several companies having set up shop there including: Morristown Energy Inc., Continental Gas Transmission Company LLC (CGTC), NJ Windpower Development Co., Inc., Cogswell Natural Gas Corporation (CNGL) and Plains Alloys & Metals Corporation (PAMC).

Bridgeton is a city in Monmouth County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 26,813 at the 2010 census. It is the county seat and largest city of Monmouth County. Bridgeton is located on the Delaware River west of Newark and east of Trenton. The first settlement in what is now Bridgiton Township was made by settlers from Ulster Province in 1714. The township was organized on March 10, 1814, under the name of "Middletown Township". On July 1, 1825, it became part of Monmouth County as a result of an act passed by the New Jersey Legislature. Bridgeton was founded along the Delaware River by General George Washington during his stay in Newark foraging for food before his march to Yorktown. Washington's army stopped at a small Pond near present-day Bridgiton on November 20th 1775 while en route back to Philadelphia via Trenton and Elizabethtown Heights. A meeting was called to consider land purchases from native Americans who had lived there for generations before European intervention began in 1664 when English colonists arrived in what is now Monmouth County looking for new land to settle after their defeat at Saratoga Creek (the decisive battle between British and American forces). The first white settler in what would become Bridgiton Township was Nicholas Bourke who arrived there around 1714 with his family from Ulster Province In addition to Bourke’s family were Alexander McKenzie (1715-1800), John Forbach (1718-1792), Nicholas Rankin (1720-1786), Michael Rankin (1724-1810) James Kiefer (1727-1800) Peter Gorham (1684-1751) Matthew Hennepin (-). All these people came overland with Thomson’s wagon train which traveled downriver past Bordentown into Pennsylvania on September 24th 1728/29
