Bound Brook is a town in Atlantic County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 23,507 at the 2010 census. Bound Brook is located on the Susquehanna River and is considered to be part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. Bound Brook was first settled by English colonists from England in 1681 as part of Gloucester Township. It was incorporated as a borough on April 15, 1856, from portions of Rahway and Monmouth townships. On January 1, 1957, it became a rural municipality with no borough status. On November 12, 1987, Ridgefield Township (the easternmost township in Atlantic County) merged into Bound Brook Borough to form a single-town/municipality. This merger was approved by voters in an election held on November 26th despite objections from Bound Brook residents who felt that their town would become too small without its own police department and fire department. The name "Bound Brook" comes from two Dutch words: "bond" meaning boundary or delimitation and "brook" meaning stream or river. The original settlers were primarily farmers who leased land along the Susquehanna River for farming purposes and called their community after their farmsteads near where it now stands – Bond's Bridge being one such settlement). In 1860 John Fenton purchased some property east of the Susquehanna River which led to the development of what is now called Upper Bucks Point; boundaries between these areas continued to change until 1926 when all but 2% of BoundBrook's total land area came under one single ownership umbrella – that of Delaware Canal Corporation (later Penn Central Railroad). At this point much of present-day Lower Bucks Point including much of today's Riverside section had been developed long before any neighboring municipalities were even conceived! A local ordinance passed in 1922 allowed for businesses within municipal boundaries to use only Pennsylvania rather than American currency when accepting credit cards so that businesses within Municipality limits could remain competitive with those located outside Municipal boundaries; this legislation also helped promote cross-border shopping opportunities unique toboundbrook! In 1974 Borough Mayor Joseph Auleta created what is currently known as downtown BoundBrook - later renamed Bank Street - which included most commercial buildings north of Market Street along Independence Avenue including both the former home office for Rahway & Monmouth Counties Telephone Company (now Verizon) as well as many other large companies and organizations over time! Downtown BoundBrook quickly became one of North America’s most vibrant and popular tourist destinations while also becoming an important center for social activity due its close proximity to many cultural attractions such as The Arts District off Broadwalk PA., numerous supermarkets & restaurants nearby including Dunkin Donuts Center & Subway sandwich shop opened up just southside Broadway across Mercer Street in 2002 creating another big opportunity for growth! As more people began moving into downtown boundbrook they started needing more housing - something which soon found its way into the form of new apartments & condos popping up throughout downtown boundbrook like never before!!! Yes downtown boundbrook has really taken off since then!!!!!

In 1870, Bound Brook became officially incorporated as a borough and began performing many civic functions such as providing education and welfare services to its residents. In 1925, BoundBrookwas annexed by Glassboro Township which had also grown rapidly during that decade thanks in part to industrial development along Interstate 95 just outside of town limits.
