Bound Brook, New Jersey is a town located in Middlesex County, New Jersey. The population was 21,682 at the 2010 census. Bound Brook is one of two towns in Middlesex County and is part of the Philadelphia metropolitan area. The town was formed from portions of Bound Brook Township on July 1, 1838. Bound Brook has a rich firearms history dating back to 1795 when three men from NJ named Jameson bought land in what is now Bound Brook Township and started to build a gunpowder mill. These early settlers were not only responsible for the development ofboundbrookgunsmillandofthe19thcenturybutalsoforTheGunowners Actof1892 which provided federal funding for firearm manufacturers in the United States. In 1892, another group of men from NJ purchased more land in what are now North Brunswick Township and established their own gunnery company called Johnnie Walker & Son Gun Manufacturing Co.. This company manufactured guns both shotguns and rifles until it went bankrupt in 1902. In 1907, Isaac Sternberg (a Jewish immigrant) founded Sternberg’s Firearms Company which became one of the largest handgunmanufacturersintheUnitedStatesafteritwas acquired by Winchester Repeating Arms Company (Winchester). In 1939, Winchester merged with Remington Arms Company to form American Rifle Corporation (ARCO). ARCO continued producing handguns under its own name until 1984 when it was sold to Sturm Ruger AG. Today, AR-15 rifles are produced by Colt Firearms Incorporated out of Springfield Armory, Illinois while revolvers are produced by Glock – America’s leading manufacturer of pistols – from outside Chicago’s Oak Park neighborhood where they have been since 1897. Additionally, shotguns made by Maynard Shotguns Limited out of Bridgewaterport MA may also be found within Bound Brook limits as well as Browning Hi-Power rifle manufacturing operations located at 6200 Iselin Ave., Broadview Heights PA 19457 that produce rifled barrels for shotguns built by FN Herstal NV based out Of Arlon Luxembourg Switzerland.)

The town was founded on April 20, 1788 by Dunbar and others as a result of the French and Indian War. It became an incorporated borough on March 10, 1892. On October 15, 1984, Bound Brook Township merged with neighboring West Orange to form a new borough with a total population of 44,814.
