Bound Brook, New Jersey is a borough in Camden County, New Jersey, United States. The population was 22,817 at the 2010 census. Bound Brook is part of the Philadelphia–Camden–Wilmington metropolitan area. Bound Brook was first settled by European settlers in 1714 as "Brunswick Township". It was incorporated as a borough on January 1, 1851, from portions of Camden and Gloucester counties. The name derives from the word "bound" which means to keep within bounds or limits. Bound Brook is located on the southern border of Camden County and borders Bucks County to the east; Pennsauken Township to the west; and Atlantic City to the north. According to the 2010 Census, Bound Brook has a total area of , of which is land and (or 9%) is water. The borough's boundaries were changed in 2016 when it absorbed parts of Glassboro Township and South Plainfield Township. As of the 2000 United States Census there were 21,718 people living in Bound Brook Borough: 14,711 households out of which 37% had children under age 18 living with them, 60% were married couples living together, 8% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24% were non-families. 23% of all households were made up of individuals and 10% had someone living alone who was 65 years old or older. The average household size was 2.57 and the average family size was 3.12

In 1866, the boundaries of the township were shifted to include all of what is now Bound Brook Township except for a small portion that became part of Neptune City. On December 14, 1914, the borough increased its size by incorporating as a city. As a city, Bound Brook had full police powers and protection from local taxes but no voting rights or representation in municipal government. Bound Brook is located at . It shares borders with Neptune City to the north, Atlantic City to the east and south, Monmouth County to the west and northwest, and Seaside Heights to the southwest. Bound Brook was founded in 1730 by Sir William Alexander, 1st Baronet. It became a township in 1832. The area now comprising Bound Brook was settled by English colonists who arrived via the New Jersey and Delaware valleys in the early 18th century. The first European to settle in what is now Bound Brook was John Quincey and his brother, James, who arrived from England on May 10, 1685. The settlers were mostly farmers and their homes were built around wells dug into the earth. One of the earliest businesses established in Bound Brook was a tannery where skins were bought and sold.
